*** Brandeis University 2022 RD Discussion ***

@MM2018 - I believe that a letter came in the mail about 2 or 3 days after he got the acceptance decision on the website. Correct - we did not apply for these. Good luck!

ACCEPTED with 3.77 gpa and 1290 SAT

My D has nothing listed under SAGE yet, but got a Justice Brandeis award in the regular mail today.

@happysnappy, my daughter received her admissions packet in the mail today (and it included the financial aid award letter). FYI, just because I thought this was interesting, my daughter got a pretty hefty FA award from Bard (which is a similarly pricey school), but almost nothing from Brandeis. Like, peanuts.

@KCHWriter thanks for the info! if i didn’t apply for financial aid do you think i’ll still get a packet?

@KCHWriter I believe you must have filed the FAFSA & CSS Profile. Otherwise, the school has no information to consider an aid award.

@MM2018, I can’t really speak to Scripps, but Brandeis has excellent STEM programs. All of the freshman that I know in STEM already have spots in labs or performing research. Also, I’m not sure if you’re interested in health, but Brandeis has a unique major for combing the STEM aspects of healthcare with the policy side. I’m personally planning on graduating with a B.S. in this field, so I can also answer more questions regarding that as well.

@KCHWriter We weren’t expecting aid, but we were really surprised that there wasn’t any merit of any kind awarded. Not even a music lesson! Their admission scholarship/merit material talks up the merit significantly for all kinds of areas. We were kind of high on Brandeis, but that took them out of the competitive mix. With many very good schools in Boston area, all at the same price point (TUFTS, BU, NEU) its not looking good for Brandeis with a massive rate of forced triples and 2 years of housing only??? I dont think they can compete.

Daughter accepted RD with 32 ACT, 4.33 GPA and excellent EC/recs/essay. Postal mail packet arrived with a $10.5K/yr Dean’s Scholarship. As a reference, Northeastern and Tulane have a lower total cost and also offered more merit aid. In the case of Tulane, a lot more. UMN-TC also offered more merit money into their relatively selective Biological Sciences college.

Accepted RD w/ 30 ACT and 4.6 weighted GPA. I also was selected for the Humanities Fellowship! I applied as an English major with a super rigorous courseload and 5’s on two AP exams. I wrote the optional supplement on literature as a means of travelling! Unfortunately, I will not be attending but I am so blessed to receive acceptance!

congrats on your acceptance and i hope you succeed in the college that you will be attending. this helps the waitlisted kids so thank you

Son received merit scholarship (15k) online a few days after the acceptance was posted. We are grateful, but unfortunately Brandeis is still too expensive for us (no financial aid but significant financial obligations). He received a similar merit award from Grinnell, 1/2 tuition from Fordham and Denison. Our strategy was to look for affordable choices, so no Ivies or colleges without merit aid for him. He will go to McGill, and a waitlist place will open up at Brandeis. (SAT 1520, 800, 800, 95.5)

Accepted with a 3.93 unweighted GPA and 28 ACT. My ECs kind of sucked so my essays must have been great. Unfortunately, I will not be attending since Brandeis is too expensive for me.

S - 780 M, 710 E, 3.9 uw 4.6 w - Accepted. 10,500 merit award, 15000 alumni award - but, the alum award is need-based and after his brother graduates from college next year, we will be assigned the “no need” status (ha, ha,) per the CSS/FAFSA folks. SO, given that there is no way we can cover the cost of attendance less the 10k 4 year award, and given acceptances and major merit (4 year) money at CWRU, Tulane, Miami - he will opt for a different place. Already told the school - so they can perhaps hit the waitlist before May 1.
