So I've been told that Brandeis has a reputation for being, without a better way to say it, very Jewish. I'm not a religious person at all and was wondering how this would affect me if I were to be accepted?

I’m planning to apply to Brandeis as well. I’ve heard that while it has a large Jewish community, non-jews do not feel at all segregated against or left out.

Current student at Brandeis.
Yes, the school is largely Jewish, but as a nonpracticing Jew, I never feel segregated or left out. The only downside is that the cafeteria has not great hours on Saturday. That’s pretty much it. If you want to participate, the option is open. If not, there are many other things to do.

Thanks for the responses! Anyone else with input?

It’s now less than 50% Jewish.

It’s always been a secular school. It does not have any religious affiliation. It was founded by Jews seeking to create a high quality school to combat discrimination by the ivies.

There is a lot of information on the Brandeis website, here is a good intro to the history:
[History | About Brandeis | Undergraduate Admissions | Brandeis University](<a href=“http://www.brandeis.edu/admissions/about/history.html]History | About”>http://www.brandeis.edu/admissions/about/history.html)

the thing that I would worry about with brandeis is the housing problem. if you do not mind getting stuck in a triple, then it is a great school.
