Brandeis university class of 2020 regular decision thread

Accepted!! 31 ACT (34 Reading, 36 English, 36 Writing, 28 Math, 28 Science), 3.5 GPA (3.9 w), strong art, history, and writing interest, mixed race female from South Dakota. I’m actually pleasantly surprised because I wasn’t expecting to get in.

Rejected. So upset about it.

I got rejected too. Bummer for the university for not getting more exceptional students.

Son was accepted, SAT 800 V 740 M 710 W, 3.9 UW not many other EC, but excelled at sports. Now the wait to find out if we can afford it.

Accepted!
SATs: 2190 (650 M, 760 W, 780 CR)
GPA: 95.80/100

Accepted 3.78 UW 4.43 W 2140 SAT lots of clubs

Rejected! Probably for financial need being an international student. :stuck_out_tongue: It was one of my top choices but ehh. That I applied was overcoming huge obstacles in the first place. Congratulations to everyone accepted (and waitlisted :P) !

I’d be willing to bet you’ll do well, wherever you end up. Good luck to you!

Accepted. Congratulations to the rest of those who got in.
SATs: 2200 (770M, 730W, 700R)
GPA: ~3.9 UW
Invited and applied for LSC program.

@calico312 : This is exactly what ED was made for. Once you account for the hooked applicants, ED I and ED II admissions there are just very few spots left. You need to write them and guarantee that you will enroll if accepted and have your guidance counselor call. I’m sorry, but this is going to be a long shot in any case. Brandeis has not admitted anybody off the waitlist for the past two years.

Accepted, not attending (going to University of Maryalnd)
GPA 3.8
I went test optional and sent in the graded analytic paper.

mid-year people: what are you guys planning on doing?

S was accepted; whether or not he attends depends on financials. It’s definitely a strong contender if the money is right.

Hi everyone, I got into Brandeis too! My SAT was a 2160 and my subject tests were Math Level 2 (780/800) and Physics (800/800). Congratulations to everyone who got in! Brandeis is truly a great university and I hope you guys decide to go there.

Hey guys! I got accepted, but I may not attend.
-GPA: 3.6 unweighted and like a 4.1 weighted
-ACT: 30
Congrats to everyone else who got in and if I decide to attend, I look forward to seeing all of you this fall!!

Hi @SydneyCO I was a midyear student at Brandeis 2 years ago and my brother was just admitted to the midyear class the other day. Midyears at Brandeis tend to be the louder and more outgoing students on campus. Admissions look for students who are outgoing in their interview or have extracurriculars to show that they are outgoing. As a midyear you get to live in some of the best dorms on campus and you become very close with the rest of the midyear class. There is also lots of fun opportunities to go abroad during your semester off. I wouldn’t have traded being a midyear for a fall admission any day because it ended up being tons of fun and the fall students are always jealous of the midyear bond.

Finally got a minute to check my decision… Accepted!!!
P.S. Their confetti animation is the same as UC Berkeley!!

accepted,… one of my first choices but I’m really going to need a lot of financial / hopefully merit aid to go. Anyone know when their aid packages are announced, ish? (2250 SAT btw, 770 M / 770 W / 710 CR)

@ashleys8888x Thank you so much for the clarification! I was confused and felt let down at first for being accepted as a Midyear student, but I am now incredibly excited for all that I can do first semester. I definitely will be attending Brandeis this January once I hear back from Financial Aid (basically, I will attend if I can afford it).

For future students curious, here are my stats:

GPA: 3.98 weighted
ACT: 28 (did not submit, instead submitted a graded analytical essay).
Two good letters of recommendation

I am passionate about social justice and tried to emphasize that in my application, especially because I applied as a sociology major and highlighted the importance of bringing enthusiasm into this field, and all the ways in which I will bring this passion to the school.

I am very involved with extracuriculars closely linked to my academic interests, have an internship with a critically acclaimed writer, work 20+ hours a week at a local bistro, etc… I think my application generally demonstrated my motivation as a student and my interest in a plethora of things.

Congrats on everybody who has been accepted!

@frances2016 I emailed the director of LSC and he said “Those decisions will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for information on LSC.” I assume that is when they will release aid stuff too.
