Hey, I know that the two schools are very very different from each other, and it is because of this factor that the decision is that much more difficult. I only have a few more days to decide and send in my deposit to Brandeis or NYU. If you could please help me with that decision by telling me whatever info you know about either school, and the pros and cons, and even asking me what I prefer, I would really appreciate it because I am a long way from making a decision and I have very little time to make it. Thank you so much to anyone who took the time to help.

As I said in the other thread, we need more info about what you want to study and what type of social setting in order to best help you.

Brandeis is a small university whereas NYU is huge. I live in NYC so I visited NYU many many times and it is so confusing to figure out your way through the school. The Village is nice if you want just the urban surrounding. Brandeis has the best of both worlds- a surburbs outside the city. Boston is really close so if you want you can travel to Boston in less than an hour. Academically, Brandeis in my opinion is stronger although NYU has more of a name recognition. Brandeis generally has smaller classes with the professors actually teaching the classes. NYU on the otherhand has huge classes with T.As (teaching assistance) teaching the classes. I know this because my friend goes to NYU. Both schools are great but in my opinion NYU is a little overrated and Brandeis is underrated. I hope this post helps you a little. However, like Sulsk said what are your academic plans and goals?

Ok, so I don't know 100% yet but I am very likely going to be going into the sciences, specifically biology and perhaps follow a pre-med program. My other option is law and thats a whole other story. One question I have is how rigorous the work is at Brandeis. I definitely need a school with an academic level such as Brandeis, but I personally don't have the best study habits, although I hope to improve although I did do well in HS without much work, and am therefore concerned with rumors i've heard about Brandeis being very rigorous and a lot of work. Socially, I am not a party animal but i definitely like large social scenes and parties available if i'm in the mood. Also out of sheer curiosity because I heard someone mention it, could you shed some light on the dating life at Brandeis? Thanks so much for answering btw.

Ok, well let's see.
You want to go to med school, but you're afraid of a school that's "rigorous and a lot of work."

<sarcasm>
Please do your future patients a favor and go into law instead.
</sarcasm>

Seriously, getting into med school is hard work, no matter where you go to college. I suspect that the reason Brandeis has a better med school acceptance rate than NYU is just because of the rigor that you fear.

haha i completely agree with you, and i am 100% not saying that i'm not up to the challenge. I'm just asking if specifically at Brandeis the course work and otehr factors are a lot more difficult and extensive that at OTHER schools. But yes I am fully aware the pre-med anywhere is not easy and I understand what I will be up against.

Which has a better economics department, NYU or Brandeis? Which sends more students to top grad schools?

Econ is the most popular major at Brandeis so I think that says something in terms of the dept.

In the higher ed world, Brandeis has a better reputation for delivering a high-quality undergrad education than does NYU. Here's the grad school stats for deis Brandeis Admissions | After Brandeis | Graduate School

The science courses needed for admission to medical school will be tough at any quality school. The difference between NYU and Brandeis will not be significant.
