Today had I had the extreme luck of getting off the Brandeis wait list. The school I was previously going to was Scripps. I really like Scripps, but maybe I should go to Brandeis. I just don’t know, but they want a decision by Monday. I’m going to try my best to go to Brandeis this weekend. Persuade me, please.

I think you need to compare both campuses and the dept. of your intended major (if you know). If money is an issue, compare that as well. My s will be going to Brandeis in the fall and we visited in April, not sure if it was right for him, but our visit convinced us it is the perfect place for him.

I just don't know either. There are differences between the schools; for example Brandeis is a much more highly regarded research school than Scripps, but I don't know what you are looking for in a school or why you applied to either. I'm assuming that the financial arrangements are irrelevant at this point, but I could be wrong about that. Tell us more.

I am going to tell you to go to Brandeis. brandeis completely rocks and follow your heart. You don't want to go to a school that you will regret later in life.

I don't know what I want to major in, I just don't want to major in math. I'm looking for a school where students are academically stimulated and there isn't a big party scene. Also, I don't know if this is able to avoid, but I would like to go to school where there aren't a bunch of hot-headed pompous pseudo-intellectuals, but still very intelligent.

From that description, it really sounds like Scripps is a great fit for you. I don't know much about Brandeis, but your "wishlist" fits Scripps to a T.

I beg to differ: looking just at your "wishlist," I'd have to say Brandeis is on par to what you'd like to have in a college. Brandeis is heavily academically driven, and there is not the typical "party scene." Essentially, everyone is comfortable being themselves, and everyone seems to just get along. I'm not sure how Brandeis compares to Scripps, however I'd pick Brandeis over Scripps any day.

Just be prepared to feel like a minority if you go to Brandeis and aren't Jewish. Many nonjewish people that went to Brandeis have told me that they felt like outcasts, and were often not even invited to certain study groups. Go to www.s tudents review.com and see what people had to say.

I wasn't saying that she should pick Scripps over Brandeis simply because it fit her wishlist to a T. Simply that from my experience, it seems she would be happy at Scripps.

There is a great possibility that she would love Brandeis as well. I applied to and was accepted at both but ultimately chose Scripps in the end.

To each her own.
