Brandeis vs. Trinity (CT) vs. Connecticut College??

People are far too quick to write off Trinity. The city- Connecitcut’s capital- has lots to offer. Trinity is less than a mile from major hospitals, state house, theater, courts; all of these offer great opportunities for internships and volunteering. The campus is beautiful, students are passionate about the school. Trinity wrote the book on community service years ago. Trinity helped build The Learning Corridor - a consortium of nine magnet and charter schools- and it is located right across the street from Trinity. The opportunities for community service are endless. Waltham, MA is not a lovely city and offers few of the opportunities that Hartford does. Hartford also has many great restaurants.Give Trinity a chance!

My D1 started at ConnColl…a fantastic school with beautiful campus and fantastic faculty…most kids are well-travelled…they nurture their freshmen! She wanted to be near a large city…and transferred to BC…she is still best friends with many Conn kids…D2 is going to be a senior at Trinity in CT…fantastic fit for her…Rome campus was safe secure lodging in a walled convent (coed)…with the best classes one could ask for…the kids are diverse, not sure what all those other comments mean about “all preppy” etc…I have met Trin kids, had them in my house, met kids in Rome…and they are from all over the world…the restaurants in downtown Hartford and West Hartford are incredible, we can never decide where to go! And as for Brandeis, sorry they were arch-rivals to my Babson soccer team:(! ps Italian and French and Art History fantastic at Trin!!!

Which one did you choose? I did two consecutive overnights (brandeis then conn) and ended up choosing conn. I had such an awful experience at brandeis that I didn’t even stay for the orientation the next day; I just woke up and left for conn. It’s funny, too, because Brandeis looked like the clear winner on paper. And then I got there. Ugly campus, awful dining, overwhelming jewish life, the “brandeis awkward,” discourteous students (not all, but my host student was uncaring and rude)…it was just awful. I sometimes wonder if I had stayed for the orientation, then maybe I would have liked it more. Oh well! I’m glad i’m not going there. It wasn’t me at all - which is not to say that maybe it will be a better fit for you.
