Brandeis vs. Tufts vs. William and Mary

I have visited all three. I loved William and Mary's campus the most, and loved the students I met at Brandeis the most. I loved the particular tour guide I had at Tufts...

All three seem to be similar in academics, so it is hard to pick out one. I am definitely liberal artsy, I have told them all psychology, but possibly will also minor in English... I really am not decided. Maybe education. Maybe some other social science. Maybe possibly even one of the life sciences, though that is a lesser option.

What is going to be important for me is the arts department. I am an amateur theatre technician of sorts, and I really would love the ability to be a theatre person without being a major or even taking classes in the department. As a club, as a fun activity. I am also an instrumental musician, but again, I just do it for fun.

I also really value friendships, and I really would like to have the ability to make friends without constant pressure to go to a party and all of that. I know that they will always exist, but I highly doubt I will ever be going off drinking. I'd like to find a group of people who would rather to other things rather than drink. I don't want to be bored, but I also don't want to only be able to go to parties.

Just thinking of these facts, which school fits me the most? I lean towards Brandeis, W&M second simply because of its distance from me (far away!), and Tufts last out of three... but... I just want to make a good decision!

What do you think?

Have you been accepted to all three already?

We encouraged our daughter NOT to pick a favorite or a first choice among the schools she applied to. Instead, she focused on what would be great about each one of them, and what the negatives were as well.

Then she chose from among the schools she was accepted to (four of the five she applied to), having kept a completely open mind, attending admitted students’ programs, and feeling like she could not go wrong no matter which one she chose.

You can’t go wrong with any of them. Once you get your acceptances, look to see if there is a difference in financial aid that may make a difference to your family. Then try to go back to the accepted students days for another visit. Within the realm what makes financial sense, go to the school where you like the students and the program in your major.

We visited all three schools. Brandeis has a very strong theater scene. Our tour guide was involved and just had to show us the set they were working on at the time. They do many plays and even 2 musicals ( I think) a year. Brandeis also has a fairly strong music department. I am not sure which schools offer education as a major so that may be a factor in your decision especially if you want to keep that option open. I am not familiar with the theater at Tufts or William and Mary. Students at Tufts were in practice rooms on a Friday afternoon so I think there is a fairly strong music program. Not sure about the strength of the music programs at William and Mary. I agree with keeping your options open and not picking a favorite right now. Hope I gave you some info that could be helpful.

All three are fantastic schools. W&M has the definite advantage regarding weather which shouldnt be overlooked:) Good luck.
