Thoughts about the theatre program at Brandeis?

ncbears-- D investigated the Brandeis theatre program very carefully and came away thinking that for someone who is looking for a BA in theatre it could be a great option. (She also came away knowing she wanted a BFA) Brandeis is a GREAT school, and the head of performing arts is terrific, and there is a beautiful theatre and lots of opportunity. Definitely worth a close look.

I have also heard wonderful things about Brandeis’ program. I would probably have urged my daughter to apply to Brandeis, but it wasn’t on our radar until recently.

PM emmybet…her daughter chose between Brandeis and another school last year

ncbears - I sent you a message. Good luck to your D!

Brandeis was in my D’s mix until the very last. It’s a great school and its arts programs are terrific. It has undergone quite a lot of changes in its theatre department in the past year or so, so anyone looking into it should read the website and ask a lot of questions about what their current courses, degree requirements and performing opportunities are. I am sure they are great, and that the changes have only improved the situation for undergraduates, but you should do the research.

I am sure my D would have had a great experience there. She, like Gwen’s D, decided in the end that she preferred a BFA, and was fortunate to be accepted into an auditioned program.

Gwen - Does your estimation of the quality of the theater program at Brandeis still stand? To your knowledge are the same people running the program. (I hear about a lot of “changes”!)
