Break times during actual SATs..

Could the ones who have already taken SATs advise me on the break times allowed between different sections of actual SAT..

I tried to find this information on CB but am not able to locate it..

Is it true that there is no break time ( for bio breaks ) in between the sections of the tests.. ?

Would appreciate inputs..

Thanks - RK1

no man there is break times or else every1 would get massive headaches except when i take it the idiots never want breaks and i end up getting a headache

This is waht I also feel. But I am currently having headache in not knowing what is the actual break time allowed and what is its frequency - do I get a break after every section or every two sections ? and how much is the duration..

Thanks - RK1

every 3 sections usually
and it varies like usually 10 minutes or so but if you don't take breaks like i am always forced to do because i test with geeks then you will get major headches.. the geeks i have to do it with study all day for it

The old SAT had one break that was 5-10 min I think. The new one since it's longer might have one or two breaks. I'm pretty sure there is only one, though. it's mostly for the bathroom anyway.

Can someone who has actually taken a new SAT please respond with their experience..

I remember that there were at least two breaks. One was a minute and I know that the other was five minutes long. There might be another break but it escapes me. And I took the new SAT so i am speaking from experience.

There should be 2 breaks of 5-10 minutes each. At one point, the College Board said they'd give a break after every hour of testing, but I've never seen 3 breaks...

Break 1: 5 minutes - after section 2
Break 2: 1 minute (stretching, you can't get out of your seat) - after 2 more sections
Break 3: 5 minutes - after two more sections

Last 3 sections are 50 minutes total, which is the same as two 25 minutes sections.

Thank you, r3n-_- . It is good information. This forum is really becoming very helpful to me, perhaps the fastest way to get authentic advise.

These are good breaks at nice intervals.. It helps me in taking some tests in an actual simulated environment..

when i took my sat, i got one 10 minute break after section 5 and that was it

i had a stretcher and a 10min BR break. i think it has to do with the test proctor.

does it mean that there is no set time/procedure for these breaks ? Perhaps I would need to send an email to collegeboard..

If, for some reason, you don't get get any breaks during your exam, you have the right to demand for one.

I think it depends on the proctor, but r3n is right. If you do not get a break then demand one. Don't just say it quietly make it known to the proctror BEFORE you start a new section. Don't do anything risky while you are doing a section. I guess the best approach is to just raise your hand after a certain section is completed and ask "When is the break going to take place?"

there should be two breaks of at least 5 minutes and one break of one minute (you have to stay in the room for the short one). They should be fairly split up at regular intervals... I think it's supposed to be a break for each hour of testing...
