I just added my roommate on Facebook but I don't know what to write on his wall. He seems to be a chill guy and I want to write something funny to break to ice... Any suggestions? What kind of joke is appropriate? Thanks!

Don’t do anything until you meet your room mate. Sometimes the best action is inaction.

Hmm… but how are we gonna discuss who buys the TV, Microwave and stuff?

all you gota say is What up lol let the convo flow man aint that hard …

Email, it’s more impersonal. Facebook is cool when you actually meet/know the person, but if you don’t then it’s just awkward.

You can try nYc91’s approach, it might work. It depends how you feel about that approach. I’d personally try email and not facebook until a little bit later.

break the ice by asking him if he has a fridge or microwave

Oh Oh Oh!!

I just found out I didn’t click the “Confirm Friend Request” button yet. WHEW!!

So I’ll just Email him and ask him if he has a microwave? That’ll be weird…

Do you guys think it’ll be appropriate to ask him if he seen Bruno yet?

Facebook chat?

Yo why do you people think so much into speakin with other people lol jus confirm the friend request, say what up, and just talk … if you cant just “talk” then i dont know what to tell you man lol

lol yeah, just do something. If you can’t do it sober, then do it under an influence if you have to go that far, hahah.

Some of my friends warned me not to talk to my roommate until we actually meet… I think I’ll wait for him to email/add me.

Nah I think I’ll call him instead.

Just make sure to call him drunk or high (or both) to make it a little more fun/interesting/cool/funny.

Or just do whatever you want.

drunk dial is best dial.

Hahahaha! Calling could have the potential to be 1000 x more awkward than a message on a facebook wall.

Good luck.

ask him how much a polar bear weighs

comiclover, stop scaring me. Thanks to you, now I’m afraid to call him.

And Attack, I think that’s actually pretty funny!! haha thanks!

TheNewHans, judging by your location, are you going to the University of Richmond too?

I don’t think talking to your friend on Facebook is a bad idea, on the contrary. I befriended some future classmates at school many time before roommates were posted. While waiting for names to be posted, I was sharing my anxiety with a girl on Facebook chat when she told me…we’re roommates! it was so cool to find out that way from her! Now I’m going to Richmond feeling that my rommate is already my friend. that’s what I think you should talk to him and it doesn’t really matter what you say at first. You have the chance to already befriend him.

Try a PM through Facebook, or just email.

“Hey man. I found out we’re going to be roommates this coming school year…etc.”

Yes ana_ro, I’m going to UR.

Just don’t tell my roommate I was this nervous when you meet him. lol.
