At my college (Auburn), almost every single building on campus is red brick, so that is my personal choice. It pulls everything together. I like the gothic style too, but the brick is just prettier I think.

concrete. it matches everything.

Neoclassical architecture is the achetypal college building. Gothic is simply amazing though if its done right. True gothic architecture, as in churches in Europe, can take your breath away.

Wow, those are HIDEOUS pics, bluthunder. The name "Oral Roberts" doesn't help much either...

Quaint, Harvard-style brick is prettier, but in many ways I prefer big "ugly" concrete buildings, if matched with a dynamic, exciting atmosphere. I go to a school that's all about big ugly concrete and a rather industrial look, and it feels alive.

In either case, I like buildings where there's more to them than meets the eye, for those who care to find it. Wellesley, for instance, feels more quaint and static than interesting and dynamic to me at first glance (in terms of buildings), but I'm sure that anyone who goes there could tell you all about their amazing underground system of steam tunnels.

I like the brick better, but I'm attending concrete.
