did anyone get invited!! free trip to berekeley, free food, everything! i did and im going!

did anyone ever do this years past?

its 4m April 10-12

it said this on the site:
"Why was I invited to participate in bridges Senior Weekend at no cost?
All students selected for freshman admission to Berkeley are invited to various new student welcome activities. However, we provide an overnight experience to students who would not be likely to visit Berkeley without this program. In selecting students to participate, Berkeley used the following criteria: students who participated in major outreach programs (e.g.. EAOP, Puente, MESA, Upward Bound, Talent Search, etc.); low-income students who attend high schools that score low on the statewide ranking of academic performance measures (the Academic Performance Index); or students from low-income families who attend California private high schools"

I didn't but I have some friends who did and they thought it was really great. They also have a bridges program in summer too, but the timing of yours is great because you'll be there for Cal Day!

Yeah I'm going as well, through the Raza Recruitment and Retention program.

me too im going to the raza recruitment one

It's going to be hilarious because I'm only half and I look totally white. Oh well, I just want to go for the Cal days, not to segregate myself via ethnicity/race.

My friend got the invitation to the bridges senior weekend, which is April 10-12.
Several other friends and I got an invitation to the Overnight Host Program, which has three weekends in April to choose from in order to visit the campus for 2 days.
What's the difference between the two programs? Is there a reason why she got the senior weekend while i got the overnight host program? i am so confused.

yes. the senior weekend is geared for low income students.

see what i posted above at the beginning.

I'm going! But it's more because my high school scores low since it's oh so ghetto, since my white friend went last year and my other Mexican friend's going this year, and we're all middle-class, so our only link is the school we go to. But I'm really excited =) I can't be bothered to look up the name of the group I'm with; it's the black people one, so I go for an extra day! Yee!

I don't think it's solely based on students with low income, I think going to a crummy school that is not represented at Berkeley is a factor. I don't qualify for any financial aid from Berkeley or any of the privates (EFC + Student > 46,000). Either way it's sweet to get the trip paid for. But if it is truly for low income students then I feel bad taking the spot because I've already been there twice and plan to go again after bridges anyway. Does anyone know when they tell you if you got a space for it?

Yeah I am attending it through PASS.
