so just to make sure, does an email from USPS indicate acceptance?

^probably. Why, did you get one?

^^ It’s probably a big packet then… and you know what big packets usually mean. :)

just my take on it, no guarantees though

laure, are you international? becuase I thought only international students get emails like the one you mentioned.

Internationals have Their packages sent by DHL

Do you really think it will be this early? Are you going on facts, insider scoop or just observations based on previous years? That would be great if true. We live in SF area, so the letter would take a couple of days to arrive. My son is very nervous after just finding out he has been waitlisted at Cal Poly (not his first choice though). Truth be told, so am I!! Go Trojans!!

USC is all over the map with their mail dates

no i didn’t receive one. i just read it in one of those old posts and i was just wondering.

hope i get one :)

So I guess I’ll know if I got in this saturday

So if you live in the LA/OC area, i guess we’ll find out in a couple of days!

I live a couple miles from USC :P

Wait, let me get this straight 28thuniversity:

If you’re in the LA area, accepted WITHOUT a scholarship, and a fall undergrad applicant, then the decisions will be mailed out THIS early?

How do you know this? You say that there was a wave last year this early, but none of the decisions from 2009 say that.

Stats Only - USC Decisons 2009
page 5, beginning at post #61:

Accepted 3/9/09
Decision: Accepted!

Date applied: 11/26/08
Date decision postmarked/received: 3/9/09, 3/10/09

OMG, I was wrong… so very wrong…

I hope I get mine next week! I’m in the LA area.

You mean 2 days!

2 days? When you look at the earliest the letters were postmarked, it was 3/9. So, I would say Wednesday at the earliest.

^ Would you actually expect that the admission process follows the EXACT same timeline from year to year?

I haven’t had a chance to check back, but did the very first admitted student w/scholarship this year get his/her letter postmarked on the exact same day as the person last year?

Well, I understand that it can’t be off by too much though. Plus it’s the difference of one month at the most. But I just wouldn’t be as confident when it comes to the specific dates which acceptance letters get postmarked/sent.

Is this only for students who applied before the scholarship deadline but did not receive a scholarship? Or is this for accepted applicants in general?

A few days ago, I received a reminder to apply for financial aid. Can I assume everyone got these?

I doubt this is relevant as to when the next wave of acceptances goes out the door, but just FYI the last round of Trustee/Presidential scholarship interviews is March 9. I know this as H is on faculty and will be on an interview panel. Heh, I should have had him stop by Admissions today to see if there were large stacks of mail coming out the door! If they mail today, LA addresses might get theirs tomorrow, or else Monday.

Hang on folks, the best is yet to come. You’ve been in school 12+ years now (including K) so what’s a few more days or weeks?
