Hi, im a junior in High School and I've been told that the sooner i start researching about college the better. I have a question about the Bright Futures Scholarship. Im an IB student I have a 3.4 unweighted and a 4.5 weighted GPA I haven't taken the SAT yet (Maybe in February???) and Im active in school clubs. I also already have 100 and something hours for community service. What are my chances of getting Bright Futures, and what in all does it pay for?

If it doesn't pay for Dorm and books, what scholarships can I apply to to pay for those?
Any info helps, my parents can't afford to send me to school so its all me,
Thank you :)

Ok…

Outside scholarships are not likely going to help you pay for Room, board, and books. Outside scholarships are usually small and only for ONE year.

BF… [Bright Futures Scholarships](<a href=“Home - Florida Student Scholarship & Grant Programs”>Home - Florida Student Scholarship & Grant Programs)

We don’t know how much you’ll get from BF until you take the SAT and/or ACT (take BOTH…you may do better on one than the other).

Also…get that GPA up as high as you can.

If you’re low income, then you’ll also get federal grants.
