For those of you who don't already know, there's been some major changes to award amounts for Bright Futures for the upcoming school year. For Florida Academic Scholars, BF will only pay $101 per credit hour instead of the now $125. I don't remember the exact amounts for Top Scholars and Medallion Scholars but they will be lower too. Your financial package should be adjusted on ISIS (or will be in the near future) to reflect this change. Just letting you guys know since it hasn't been "officially" announced on the BF website.

My amount on ISIS has already been changed. However, I noticed that now I have this grant that covers the money that I would have lost.

Hmm… mine hasn’t changed

I got an email on UF webmail that said that my financial situation for next year had changed. The amount that Bright Futures now pays corresponds with the lessened amount. However, I got an undergraduate grant that covers the amount I lost. I don’t know what to make of this. Financial info isn’t generally sent to regular e-mail.

My son got the same - a reduction in Bright Futures but then a grant to make up the difference.

The state is probably giving grants to students who have already been grandfathered into a certain scholarship level when they entered as freshman. So instead of having different BF packages for different cohorts, it’s easier and less confusing to just set one package and make up the difference through another means.

i cant really tell if it was reduced or not, but if it was, i didn’t get any grandfathering. i’m a junior.

Yeah, I got the grant to make up lost BF too. When I got the email I was really hoping it was FOS, oh well.

they just increased the subsidized loan amount to make up the difference for me. :(

Same here glasswright D:

For those who received a grant to cover the money you lost, are any of you incoming freshman?

My BF award was reduced but I didn’t get any emails or anything nor did I get a grant to cover what I lost.

Yeah, I’m an incoming freshman.

What is the name of the grant you’re referring to?

We’re talking about the UF Undergraduate Grant, which covers the amount of money that we would lose from Bright Futures.

I’m also and incoming freshman and I didn’t get an email OR grant ugh

Yeah same here. Maybe that UF undergraduate grant is for a specific type of student? Idk but now my financial aid is less than my cost of attendance.

idk if this happened to anyone else but I didnt receive a grant to cover the loss but also my cost of attendance went down by about $1000

Hmm… well, I am in the Honors program if it counts for anything. Or maybe the grant is just for incoming freshman? Try checking fin. aid on ISIS.

I’m an incoming freshman and mine got lowered but I didn’t receive any grant either

I received the grant as well and for those with medallion or goldseal its not down to 76 dollars.
