Bright Futures Question

Okay, so I received an e-mail from the Florida Student Financial Aid and they said I am eligible to receive the Florida Academic Scholar Award...so does this cover all of my tuition? Sorry, I'm just confused...I went on the website, and they show the award amounts, but I'm still not sure how they apply and exactly how much of my tuition will be covered! Thanks for any help!

No, it doesn’t. They tell you how much you get per credit hour ($126, I think), but the actual cost per credit hour isn’t $126 at any Florida college I can think of… It’s usually around $152.

Ohhhh alright! Better than nothing! ;)

Tuition for 2010-2011 has also not been set. Tuition goes up each summer once each U determines their credit hour rate. And since FSU will be increasing tuition each year until tuition reaches the average tuition of other state U’s in the country, per the long range planning all Florida State U’s are doing, there will be even more of a gap once tuition rates are announces. But yes, it is better than nothing. That is why Bright Futures is not longer referred to as 75% or 100%. It covers 75% or 100% of an amount the legislature sets, but not 75% or 100% of actual tuition.
