<p>We really shouldn’t have Bright Futures or any government-funded scholarships/grants. They lead to tuition inflation and they just make tuition more expensive for all of us. If there is any Bright Futures at all, I agree with the other poster, it should be distributed to the universities to award. Or at least raise the test score requirements.</p>
<p>^ Bright futures has a standard set of requirements. You fulfill the requirements, you get the money. However, if Universities start to award the scholarships, they would give them based on the applicant pool. Isn’t that discouraging? Who would want to go college if there is no guarantee that one would get the money. By doing so, less people would attend college leading to a tuition inflation. The whole purpose of bright futures is to encourage students to receive a college education without worry about the financial aspects.</p>
<p>The original purpose of Bright Futures was to keep the best and brightest Florida high school students in-state for college.</p>
<p>The current standards are too low.</p>
