Okay so I made a mistake. I graduated from high school in Florida in 2013, but I decided to go to school out of state in New York. Now I want to transfer back home because I realized that the school I am in, isn't very good (it's a suny college). My question is, Can I apply for bright futures and if so how? If I can't I'm going to be really depressed because I got my IB diploma and I had good stats in high school. I got into every single school in the state last year. i really hope someone replies soon. Thanks for reading. :)

Did you apply for Bright Futures last year before graduation? According to the Bright Futures website, “Students must apply during their last year in high school (after December 1 and prior to graduation) or forfeit all future eligibility for a Bright Futures Scholarship.”

I did apply last year, just didn’t use it.

Then you should still be able to use it. I believe you have two years to claim it after you graduate. My son’s school tells everyone to apply, even if you do not intend to go to a school in-state, because you never know what may happen. You might want to turn to your old hs guidance counsellor for help if you were on good terms. Good luck to you.

thanks, I was able to find my pin and everything online. I will talk to my guidance counselor. If anyone else has any advice on this please enlighten me.
