I was wondering whether i should get a 13.3 inch laptop or a 15.3 inch laptop. There's only a 2 pound difference but apparently the 13 inch is way more portable than the 15 inch. So I have a few questions

is it neccessary or convenient/popular to bring a laptop to take notes in classes?
is it practical to bring a separate moniter and just connect it to the smaller laptop? I also don't think I'll be studying in my dorm much so is a 13 inch too small for extended computer work like writing papers?

o do they have available moniters you can use in libraries?

I’ve never used my laptop to take notes in class, but some people may find it useful. You want the portability for when you go over to friends’ places and whatnot.

I recommend the 13.3 inch laptop + large monitor combination.

The 13.3 inch shouldn’t be too small for extended use. You can make the text bigger in programs if you do find it difficult to see the content.

I’ve never seen monitors in library just for laptops, so I’m assuming no.

13inch is the perfect compromise between size and weight. its not necessary for classes, but for some its really useful. you’ll get use to the 13.3 inch size. If you’re really concerned go for a 14.1

i dont suggest bringing a monitor cause it’ll just take up more space and you’ll get tired of plugging it into your laptop.

there are no monitors to use in the libraries.

I have a 15.4 and it’s relatively heavy in carrying it around. I would definitely recommend getting a 13.3 inch laptop and not bringing a larger external monitor.

I’d also recommend going with the 13.3" and getting an external monitor. A larger monitor really doesn’t take up that much space and can be really useful when watching movies/TV/playing games with others. Plus, you have to be incredibly lazy to get tired of plugging it into your laptop as all you need to do is connect 1 cable (VGA or DVI) that you can have hanging off your desk or something for easy access.

oooh 13 inches… thats good. i had a 12 inch and it was fine.. so im sure the 13 inch will be too. i returned it tho bc it was a tablet and i didnt really use the writing feature. my new one is 14.1

Yeah, adding onto what fireprincess90 said, instead of choosing a super light or super “heavy” laptop, why don’t you just get a 14.1’’ laptop. They’re reasonably light and portable.
