Bringing a car freshman year

So I know that Davis doesn’t allow students who live on campus to buy parking permits, but I’ve heard that off campus parking isn’t to hard to find. To what extent is that true?

I’m pretty determined to bring a car with me, and especially since my graduation gift will be a BMW Z4 :D, I’m even more set on taking it up to Davis. While I know that you can use a bike to get around campus, which I do intend to do, I want the car to be able to drive to Sacramento, take weekend trips to San Francisco, go up to Tahoe to Ski in the winter, and just the occasional spur of the moment, top down road trip.

So if someone could elaborate on the off campus parking situation for me I would REALLY appreciate it! Thank you!

If you park along Russell or at the U-Mall (just don’t leave your car at the U-Mall overnight-move it to a different location), you’ll be fine. My suitemate’s boyfriend has a car (we all live in Cuarto in Webster Hall, and I think people in Emerson park along Wake Forest Dr. because that street is closer for them) and he always parks along Russell except on Thursday when they do street cleaning, and then he moves his car over to Wake Forest Dr. and parks there.

I suggest parking in either an upperclassman’s parking spot @ his/her apartment (it’s like a free/$20 permit) or just parking on Wake Forest Drive behind the Cuarto Dorms. That’s what I do.
