Hi, out of curiosity, does anyone know if you're allowed to bring amps into dorms at UCSD? I'm considering bringing a 75-100 watt amp as well as headphones to keep the noise down.

Not familiar with the particular school, but generally, you’re fine bringing it, not fine if you’re playing it loud. With headphones I doubt you’d have a problem.

Also not familiar…may want to check with housing. Just realize that if you are in a dorm there will be quiet hours that you may not be able to use it.

75-100 watts is frickin huge, im guessing a 2x12. Id suggest bringing a smaller amp if you have one, or can buy one. I got a Roland Microcube for college last year, but am probably bringing a 30w amp instead this year, because the microcube is just not that great an amp.

Cant speak for your school specifically.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind

The rule at my dorm was that as long as it couldn’t be heard more than 2 doors down (from the outside, not through the walls) then it was alright. But please don’t **** off your neighbors while skirting the 2 door rule.

playing it real loud will most likely let people know you have a guitar and amp and more likely to get stolen.

Depending on where you’ll be living next year, there may not be room for it. Which college are you?

I’m planning on going to UCSD
