Bringing a printer??

Is anyone bringing a printer with them?

The school I'm going to is $.10 per page to print and they recommend students bring a printer with them and I'm debating getting one since basic printers aren't expensive at all.

I do, and i’m an incoming junior.

It is a very big pain to go and try to print something out at the library or even copy something (mine is an all in one).

I’m not bringing mine. My school gives us 250 free prints per quarter. To highjack this thread momentarily: Does 250 prints per quarter sound like enough? It seems like much more than enough to me, but I don’t know how much college students need to print things.

Based on that information, I would suggest a printer. At my school, there is free printing. Since your school charges, I would bring my own printer.

If you get 250 prints free for a semester, you’re probably good.

If the school charges, bring your own. If it messes up on you, you always have a backup plan.

I got a free (and pretty good) printer with my Mac when I bought it about one year ago before I went away. It’s so much less of a hassle when you can finish up an essay in your dorm room and just print that moment. I still have to buy paper, but I’m also buying some ease and peace of mind. Win for me haha

I bought a printer and it’s been so valuable. Sometimes you’ll be really crunched for time and you’ll need to print something 10 minutes before class, and it’s times like those you’ll be really glad you have a printer.

I don’t plan to buy a printer. I don’t even have to leave my dorm (well, house) floor to get to the computer lab.

i’m an incoming freshman and my parents have said they are going to buy me a printer for college

I plan on bringing mine. I’ll use the free printing when available, when I happen to be near a printer, but if it’s midnight and I’m finishing a paper in my room, I’m not going to walk across campus to a printer. That’s what mine is for- convenience!

Having your own printer is more convenient, especially if you study better at home than on campus in the library.

At my school, if you don’t do your research, you’re stuck with the library and dorm printers that charge money. If you do your research you’ll discover that there are a lot of other really nice computer labs that don’t charge for printing at all.

The only time it wasn’t convenient for me to not have a printer was when the labs were closed, but I would just have to be a good student and not save everything for the last minute. Also, even with all of the essays I’ve done I’ve only had to print out a couple of them. Most professors ask for all the work to be e-mailed to them or submitted on the class website thing.

I have a small, basic hp printer that set me back $30. I use it all the time. My school does not have any free printing, it’s four cents per page to print at the library. If i didn’t need to print things off all the time I wouldn’t bring a printer.

I’m definitely bringing my wireless printer

Bring it! A good printer with scanning abilities ran me $20. It’ll come in handy and won’t be such a hassle.

Bring it. Even for non-school stuff it’s useful. I use it to print off train tickets etc… and having to go to school to do that would be a pain.

Hi meShannon, I would definitely bring a printer!! It saves you the hassle if you wake up and forgot to print an assignment, your English paper has one last mistake you want to correct before running off to class, and waiting in line for printers at the library or print center - or risking them being broken. I only purchased ink about three times during the year, and I shared my printer with my roommate, who often printed documents.

I assume you want to print when you need to - and a shared printer is a bit unreliable. Seems like a perfect item to coordinate with your roommate!
