Recommended?

It’s a good idea. I also recommend the ladies pack a suit and a cocktail dress (or something along those lines).

if you expect to either
a) be in a class that will probably have required business formal/business casual dress
b) attend a recruitment fair
c) go to a dinner organized by a professor with someone famous/important
d) rush (i think you need one at least once during the process?)
e) or if you just want to be prepared.

…then the answer is yes.

girls, suit =/= cocktail dress. if you’re going to choose between the two, i’d suggest bringing a suit. you can always borrow cocktail dresses from friends - that’s what i did whenever i didn’t feel like wearing one of my own.

Good advice…probably should have mentioned that in my post :)

What classes generally require business dress and is this listed in the course descriptions or?

If you want to do an interview while on campus, then it’s a good idea.

@ keyboard29: if you’re an AEM freshman, you’ll be taking a class on case analyses first semester. you will do a presentation and you will need business dress. freshmen hotelies, i believe, have a class where they HAVE to dress up to go to first semester. i’m not sure, but i remember a couple of my friends complaining about that. comm classes might require you to dress business casual for presentations.

that’s not to say that those are the only classes with business dress required, but you can probably figure out whether you need it or not based on the names/subject material of the classes. if not… well, the prof will prob tell you on the first day when he gives out the syllabus.

ive never heard of a freshman girl needing a suit, but i guess it never hurts to be overprepared.

definitely bring several cocktail dresses, you will almost definitely need them. you can borrow from people but personally i dont like trusting that i will have the same taste as my friends or that their dresses will fit right.

I’m a guy :P
