Bringing PROSPECTIVE Students to Dimensions

Can I bring friends to Dimensions instead of parents? The two friends that want to go are juniors, so they're not really "invited." There isn't any overnight hosting going on during Dimensions weekend and the admissions lady already told me that they will only provide housing for me and not anyone else, but I forgot to ask her if my friends will be able to participate in some Dimensions activities, particularly sitting in on courses, if I bring them along. I'm assuming that I'm allowed to bring them in the first place...I mean, anyone can just walk onto campus and look around, right?

Anyone have any definitive answers? I will be calling the Dartmouth office in the morning to clarify, but I'm hoping I'll get a quicker reply this way.

Because you will be hosted by a student, you will not be able to bring friends to dimensions. You must keep in mind that Dimensions is specifically geared toward admitted students and your friends may end up feeling a little out of place. Because they are not admitted students I don't think they will be allowed to participate in dimension activities. However this does not stop them from visiting Dartmouth, arranging for a tour, information session and interview.

It would be kind of awkward because where would they stay? The Hanover Inn is very expensive and they would need a car to stay in some of the other hotels in the white river junction area.

If they are interested in staying over, seeing the campus attending classes, they will have an opportunity to do so senior year as many student host prospective students in the fall.

Plus, W3ds, it will be a lot more fun for all three of you, when you can show them & host them yourself!
