You know the bits in Love Actually where they make a fuss about the American obsession with the British accent?? Well seeing it again now that I'm living in England puts everything in a different light.

So just for fun, what do you think? Is the british accent hot or not??

I hate British accents--I like French, Italian, Russian, Southern, and most others, but for some reason, British sounds too harsh to me, like your mouth is contorting all over the place to make the sounds.

No offence, but this is an exceedingly stupid thread. Anyone who thinks a "British" accent exists is delusional. Visit Liverpool or Birmingham and see if you still have the same opinion. London even has several different dialects. Americans also tend to forget that Britain also includes Wales and Scotland, both of which have very different dialects. Some dialects of English can be very pleasant but others are difficult to even understand (like Somerset).

American's have unique accents. And its amazing to see how many students go off (especially to southern states) and come back home sporting one.
