British accent: yay or nay??

You know the bits in Love Actually where they make a fuss about the American obsession with the British accent?? Well seeing it again now that I'm living in England puts everything in a different light.

So just for fun, what do you think? Is the british accent hot or not??

I hate British accents--I like French, Italian, Russian, Southern, and most others, but for some reason, British sounds too harsh to me, like your mouth is contorting all over the place to make the sounds.

i'd say yay...esp colin firth's, jude law's accents...

It depends. Light accents are pleasant to listen to.
But the heavier ones, sound like the person is talking with a mouthful of grits.

No offence, but this is an exceedingly stupid thread. Anyone who thinks a "British" accent exists is delusional. Visit Liverpool or Birmingham and see if you still have the same opinion. London even has several different dialects. Americans also tend to forget that Britain also includes Wales and Scotland, both of which have very different dialects. Some dialects of English can be very pleasant but others are difficult to even understand (like Somerset).

Yeahhh..British accents are hot..whether or not they truly "exist."

Daniel Radcliffe... sigh.

I love the Cockney accent, with the word "bloke" being said numerous times.

American's have unique accents. And its amazing to see how many students go off (especially to southern states) and come back home sporting one.

That's because Americans don't speak properly. :p

YEA* (spell it right ;) ) but Australian accents are better

You guys need to check out "Lock, Stock, and two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch". So many cool accents :D

w1cked, are you a girl or a guy? I've seen you on quite a few threads and I'm just curious.

I will let you take a guess first.

I think you're a guy.

Also, is your name after an adult entertainment company? I noticed your occupation and it seemed to make sense...

w1cked and I work in the same field I see.

w1cked is a guy!!! I guessed right!

Wow, you guys are in the same field as Jill Kelly.

Umm who? :/

Go google her. :p

Oh..interesting..um..the face could use some work.
