Why are there so many commercials that use british people? Why does a person get instant IQ points for sounding british/australian?

Why do Indian & Asian accents seem "dumber" than british accents?

Why are there so many commercials that use british people? Why does a person get instant IQ points for sounding british/australian?

Why do Indian & Asian accents seem "dumber" than british accents?

Because British accents are just inherently cool.

And people like to think Asian accents sound dumber to make themselves feel better about their own dumbness.

That is because British Accents OWN! Think about the flipside what is it about an American Southern accent that sounds inherently unintelligent?

LOOOL i knooow,right?

British accents sound very sophisticated and attractive (on guys of course :P)

No offense but australian accents sound a bit uneducated

Idk about asian accents but I can do THE best impression of an Indian Accent (sounds authentic LOL…considering that I lived in ‘little India’ for most of my life hahahaha…

British Accents for the CHUNDER!

I have a slight southern accent, but it’s not strong…thank goodness…

I don’t think any accent is * best *, but I do find British, Australian, and Southern to be pretty hot in a guy :b

In my opinion,

Southern American English : No dialect American English :: Australian English : British English

No real reason for it, this is just what comes to mind for me

Oxymoron much?

oddly enough people with the most accent-less English (I mean they sound amazingly all-american, it’s perfect english but you would never be able to guess where they were from with how they spoke) that I know are from texas. and a couple have never even been to america period.

British accents sound sophisticated…

Asian/indian: either nerdy (b/c of stereotypes) or “dumber than British accent” b/c “speak better English, you’re in AMERICA!” effect…my opinion

They have an aura of sophistication, and give the ad some ethos. kind of lame actually.

Considering(no offense), most of the British people I know personally aren’t intelligent at all, yet they still think highly of themselves. -_-

Asian and Indian accents sound ridiculously FOB-by.

I think you all mean received pronunciation English accents - British covers a multitude of accents, Scottish, Irish, Welsh - my own Northern one too, which I don’t think sounds terribly sophisticated.

I notice how often in films the bad guy is English. All the Die Hards and many others since have had urbane English baddies.

i like bristol accents

English accents are extremely hot.

I like “propah” British accents when it suits the person. If it does then it can be very attractive. I dunno about other British accents. Scottish accents and Irish accents and Welsh accents are pretty hard to understand imo.

In India at least, British accents evoke the “colonial hangover” and make people think ap roduct is “classy”.

Because most people love british accents - take for instance the fact that whenever I hear a British accent I automatically focus on it
