British vs. American Admissions

Hello all!

I am an American high school senior applying to several US schools as well as LSE. I began to fill out the UCAS application(what seems comparable to the Common APP) and emailed the admissions office at LSE to see what else, if anything, I was required to send. He informed me that my transcript, AP/SAT scores, and other relevant academic information would be transmitted through the UCAS application. I was somewhat confused by this, as I have to request that those be sent to each college to which I am applying. I am really lost in terms of the admissions process at LSE, since I’ve become so accustomed to that of US schools. Anywho, if there is anyone who has had experience with the British admissions process and could offer any kind of guidance or advice, I would greatly appreciate it

Thank you,
Caitlin

yay! i just sent my UCAS form today! :)

if you have any specific questions, i might be able to help. i'd suggest checking out http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/ which is like this site.. but British.

Oh, from what I understand, British unis don't care too much about your high school grades. Some Americans at the site above got accepted to colleges in England without ever even sending their transcripts or official SAT score reports. But you probably ought to, just in case.

wait wait i wanted to apply to lse and oxford(the easiest college there) but my grades are not stellar my rank barely being 13% tile. But my standardized test scores are high. If they don't consider these, and I know for a fact they do not consider any ec's, what do they consider for admission?

They consider test scores and your personal statement, and your interview in Oxford's case and probably LSE's too.

oxford's deadline was october 15 though, and the pre-application form was due october 1, so if you were planning on applying this year...sorry. i'm still kicking myself for hemming and hawing all last year and this year, so i never turned my application in even though i started the ucas. i just wanted an ib diploma to be good for something... if i get rejected by all my american colleges, then i can really cry.

wait don't oxford and lse have rolling admissions
watever that means

Oxford doesn't, the deadline was october 15th.
