Any reviews on Broadway Artists Alliance summer intensive program? Is it worth the money and is difficult to get accepted? Thanks for any comments.

My D went last year for the 3 day program with 1 day master class. She enjoyed it, didn’t love it. She said if she went back she’d rather be a vocal major then the dance major she was. I don’t know how difficult it is to get accepted, I just know she was.

thanks for the info…what didn’t she like about the Dance Major? Just curious…

I have been going to Broadway Artists Alliance since 2008 and it is a fantastic program. I have been a dance major as well as a vocal major. This programs opens a lot of doors for young performers and allows you to network which is what this business is all about! I started the program when I was 16, I am 19 now and continue to return to the program.

As a dance major, you get to perform in all the dance numbers as well as get 3-6 counts of 8 solo to showcase your skills for the industry panel. You also have the opportunity to try out for vocal solos in the group numbers so that is another opportunity to showcase your skills for the industry panel.

As a vocal/acting major you get to perform 16-32 bars of a song selection or perform a monologue. You can also have the opportunity to be in dance members should you pick those classes as an elective. For some dance numbers there are auditions to be in it for the final showcase.

Whether you are a dance, vocal, or acting major you receive individual feedback on your performance. Your headshot/resume is given to each member of the industry panel, which they take notes on during your performance and get to take with them for future reference.

Broadway Artists Alliance had opened many doors for myself and for many of my friends whom I have met through the program (Broadway bookings, TV/Film, National tours, agent/manager signings, etc.) . I HIGHLY recommend the program. It is worth the money and as far as being accepted goes, it is very competitive however there are different programs available to be accepted too and if you are not accepted at first I suggest doing some one day master classes and to keep trying. The one day master classes are also a good way to get a feel for the program if you would like to get a sneak peak at the summer/winter intensives!

Hope this helps!! :)

I’ve also been going to BAA as a voice major since I was around 16- I can’t get enough of it! I’ve done all of the Summer Programs and even got to be a part of the first College/Professional Workshop (which was GREAT).

DanceAngel52391 got everything right! There are so many classes to choose from and it’s a great experience that connects students to real Broadway professionals! It’s a true triple threat program (Although, I was definitely not a dancer when I started, but the instructors motivated me to try my hardest and now I dance everyday!), and admission is fairly competitive. I now major in Musical Theatre in college, and a lot of my professors and any professionals I have met are familiar with the program. It’s a great addition to any resume!
