Broadway performers make how much?!

I second @actorparent1 suggestion to read Audition Update. I would encourage your kid to read it also. They may already know about it . Wow that is an eye opening site!
Just reading the posts about auditions & some of the comments on the B Post section… interesting and somewhat discouraging but def the real experience. Welcome to nyc! Lol

Also agree with @alwaysamom ‘s point about needing to know the stats and figures. trying to make sure your student knows the reality. They SAY they know but tbh probably just try not to think about it. That’s ok sometimes but being realistic is also important. And being informed even more so.

What aspiring performers and their parents should also know is the cost of living in NYC. If > pay from performing, some tough decisions have to be made.

Also, remember the odds are great that your kid is going to start out non-equity, and be non-equity for a while, maybe quite a while; the money isn’t even CLOSE to a Broadway contract. Making $300-400 a week is pretty much average for non-eq - maybe even closer to $300-350 a week. If you’re lucky, they will house you and pay for travel.

Sorry… repeated some of what @EmsDad said, and just read his post.
