I just finished Crash. The cast really was amazing. Probably the best overall I've ever seen. I'm not sure if I agree that it was the best picture of 2005, but I haven't seen Brokeback yet so I can't really make a decision. I'd vote for it over Rent and The Producers, though. :P

IVYPoison, I'm a guy, but I'm gay, so it doesn't count. Lol, it's quite easy to tell, no? I think you were asking for how many straight guys have seen BBM.

If I were straight brought up in a heterosexist society, I would probably be grossed out by two guys kissing... I admit that, so I probably would not be excited at all about this movie and would see it only for curiosity's sake. Even now, I'm still kind of weirded out by two guys kissing, just because I'm not used to seeing it.

I think it's really cool that you went to see it. I have a couple of straight friends who wore a cowboy outfit to the theaters.. it was hilarious.

Hecatonchires, I forgot to mention that the Best Ensemble award did have the same effect as a Best Picture win, even though each recognized a different category of achievement. So in that sense, the SAG win was just as good as a Best Picture.

i didnt even know that the movie called 'crash' existed until the day after the oscar's (it was all over cnn). heard its about racial discrimination?
i really want to watch brokeback. is it still on?

Go google "I'm glad crash won the oscar"

Did you mean.... haha.

^that was HILARIOUS!!! >.<

Read the first result. "Now that Crash has won I'm ****ed..." Haha.

That's awesome.

There is absolutely no way Brokeback Mountain would have lost Best Picture had it been released in January.

i agree. i think i said in this thread, or another, that Brokeback got too much hype early on and was starting to fizzle out. Whereas, Crash received the bulk of the media attention as the Oscars got closer.

haha that's really funny...i love google.

I went and saw Brokeback yesterday with my friend, and usually when I see well-reviewed movies, it's kind of a let down when I actually see them, but this is the only exception. It was amazing!!! I really felt like a part of their lives, and I felt so much empathy for them---this might sound weird, but it was really easy for me to relate to jack and ennis even though I'm a straight girl who lives in a city. It really sticks with you afterwards, at least for me, it really struck a chord with me I guess.
It was a late Tuesday night but the theatre was actually pretty full. No one made any comments or laughed or anything like other posters said...but then it's Seattle, not exactly the heartland or anything.

This movie really touched me---go see it NOW while it's still in theatres, it's always better on the big screen especially with the landscapes. I've seen a lot of movies for just being 18 but I've never really seen one that's had an effect on me afterwards, and it didn't really have anything to do with them being gay specifically, just the sadness and the great acting. Ok I guess I could write a novel about this but---just go see the movie!!!
