just like many other people, i am rejected from Stanford.. and unfortunately, Stanford is the only place i want to be.. i am accepted to boston college but i can't help thinking about transferring.. however, as i read through the threads here about transferring from other school to stanford, i figured out it's extremely hard and uses very different admission criteria from freshmen admission.. so.. do you think it's better to do post-graduate at some private highschool? or do i have still some chance even if i go to a college and try to transfer? honestly, i don't see too much different between 1st year admission admit-rate, which is like 12% and transfer one, like 8%. Anyway, I would really appreciate your advice.. and just let you know i am a foreign student with no us citizenship or greencard whatsoever.. I've been studying in the states for three years..
thanks for reading this

i know that this is pretty obvious, but i would definitely contact the admissions people. my friend who was waitlisted at harvard went to cambridge to talk to them, and they gave her a pretty good idea of what her chances were, recommendations, etc. admissions folks can actually be frank and informative when they aren't sending school propaganda to people. Aside from that, I think the general rule for getting into a school you were rejected at is to either a) work super hard freshman year somewhere else, get amazing grades and ecs, and try for a transfer, or b) take a gap year and do something absolutely amazing, different, creative, i.e. a cool internship in DC, starring in a movie, volunteering in Africa with Doctors without Borders (sorry for the random examples, but I hope you get my point) and then apply again. Lastly, don't get too hung up on Stanford, because your "broken dream" might not turn out so badly after all; keep your mind open to the possibility of a wonderful life without Stanford...it's not so far-fetched. Consider why you like Stanford so much, perhaps there is another school that would meet these requirements. Furthermore, if you plan to go to grad school, you could try for Stanford Graduate school instead in a few years.

i was rejected from stanford, and i, too, have always wanted to go to college in stanford..

but u know, if you're planning to go to medical school or anything like that at stanford, it's actually harder to get in as a stanford undergraduate i think.. i've finally started giving up hope of transferring to stanford next year, i'm just gonna do undergrad at northwestern and apply for med school at stanford. =)
