Bromley Hall vs. Illini Tower

Hello,

I am about to fill out my housing application, but I do not know which one to pick. Also, as an incoming freshman, is it ok to live in a single? Which place is fun and easy to make friends if I am kind of shy? Also, which place is cleaner? Finally, this might be a weird question, but which dorm has more attractive girls? Thanks for your input.

BROMLEY! haha…especially for your last question. I live here now as a freshman and it’s a lot of fun. Also, every other week a cleaning person cleans the room and bathroom, its really nice. One thing though, the food sucks! The first couple months isn’t bad but then it hits you and you’ll be complaining about the food everyday. But honestly, its college, you’re a freshman, so you can deal with it haha. Good luck and I’d definitely choose da brom!

Bromley! its way more social and i personally like the rooms better because at illini tower you have like an electronic key card (like at a hotel) to get into the main part of your room, then you have a traditional key to get inside your specific room. That just seems like a pain. some personal opinions though, like you have 4 years at Uof I, so i think you should stay in the dorms for at least your freshman year bc it is the most social. As well, the food is a lot more convenient bc you can eat at any dining hall. And it is only one year, you can always change after your freshman year. Hope this helps!

@aklauss17 lol thank you very much for your answers (specifically the last one)
@xbritx720 yes! everything you have told me helps! i actually filled out the application today and hopefully there is a room available for me.

for aklauss17, xbritx720, or anyone, is it hard to study or get sleep at night in Bromley because of the thin walls, noise level, and partying? thanks!

Thanks for this thread! I’m also choosing between these two :D

No problem, hermestai8550!

I do have to be honest, some nights suck cause of the noise from people coming back at 1 or 2 am drunk and rowdy, but it just depends on your floor. My floor is known as one of the worse ones and it can get pretty frustrating sometimes. But I have a bunch of friends on different floors and they rarely have that problem, so its just a luck of the draw I guess. As for studying, I never have problems about trying to concentrate because of noise. They have “study hours” Sunday thru Thursday in the dining hall from 8PM-1AM so if you need a quiet place to study that is always an option. If you have any other questions ask away!
