Hi everyone… I got into Brooklyn BA/MD. I’m sure you are all qualified and will become fabulous doctors. Don’t feel down!

doctor888, thanks for the wishes. are u going to brooklyn for sure? did u apply to other programs?

Hi guys. I was accepted to the program via e-mail a few weeks ago, and I just got the formal invite in the mail today. To all those who got in and are going, congrats and I’m excited to meet you! If you didn’t get in, I’m sorry to hear it, but I wish you the best of luck!

Warm regards,

For anyone who is interested, I put together a Facebook group page called Brooklyn/Downstate BA/MD Class of 2018. Hopefully it will become a bustling forum where students in the program can discuss school, work, etc, and just get to know each other better. Hope you guys check it out.

I still haven’t received any response from Brooklyn BA/MD yet! I had the interview a few weeks ago. But I haven’t even gotten an email or letter since then. =[[
Does anyone else have the same situation? If not, I guess I’ll call the office and ask.

I took a look at this thread earlier today and was pretty shocked this program was so popular. For everyone putting their high hopes of becoming a doctor on Brooklyn-Downstate, re-think that.

Is Downstate a bad medical school?: Of course not. In fact its a fine medical school. But why would you want to limit yourself this early on knowing that you can most likely get into Downstate doing traditional pre-med path at YOUR school of choice?

Honestly, medical school admissions aren’t as bad as are thought out to be. I got into BA-MD back in the day and decided not to take the offer. Instead, I finished my undergraduate at Columbia. Currently, I’m finishing my first year of medical school at Columbia as well.

If you were bright enough to get into this program, I think its safe to say you’re definitely bright enough to get into a better medical school than Downstate. Schools like Brooklyn college need students like you- Thats why they made programs like the one with Downstate.

Anyway…

I have to get back to learning receptors…

If anyone has any questions about anything medical school related, don’t hesitate to message me.

hey to dose that got accepted can you please post your stats!! (pleasee!) i am really interested in this program and want to see what my chances are

& like other colleges do they “favor” hispanics& 1st college generations?

mdh625 - No they do not “favor” hispanics and first generations. It’s not Sophie Davis, it’s Brooklyn BA-MD. The whole point of this program is to reward the most competitive students by giving them a more ease undergraduate experience by eliminating medical school applications and lowering the MCAT and GPA standard. This is so they can focus on other aspects of becoming, not only a well rounded doctor, but a well rounded individual.

thank you andyboy23 for clarifying that to me, i did believe that since Brookyln BA-MD was more of a competitive medical route then the concept of “favoritism” (would that be an appropiate way for putting it?) would not apply since they are seeking those who are eligible and determined that their future is set in medicine. :)

Can somebody clarify if this program accepts ACT scores as well as SAT scores? I can’t seem to find average ACT scores for this program…and I am really interested in this program. If not, I’m also interested in the college itself, and I can’t seem to find average ACT scores (if there are any).

Let me give you some information on the “typical” applicant. A friend of mine is attending ba-md in the fall. She scored 1540/1600 on her SAT and was # 2 in her class.

Generally, if you are trying to get into med school from high school because you’re afraid of the “pressure” of a regular pre-med path, don’t become a doctor.

Hi! im planning on applying to the brooklyn collage Ba/Md program and i was wondering if you could give me some advice! like what should i do this summer and what should my stats be. Thank you so much!!!
