broward or jennings?

i'm going to be filling out my housing contract this week and i was wondering which you guys would recommend over the other. i've heard these are the two main freshmen dorms and are the most social. i am not planning on being in greek or a major/intense partier. if you guys could let me know what you think that'd be helpful!

you do not need to pick until you get the email with the date and time depending on your priority number/when you paid the 25.00

Putting your choices online on the contract is for people who want to be manually placed by UF in a dorm

Source: I called and asked

as far as choices, I am in the situation as you. where to pick?

Broward and Jennings are basically interchangeable, and almost exactly the same. Personally, I like Jennings better because I like the layout; it has a cooler common area and nice tall ceilings, and it seems less “dungeon-y” than Broward. Overall, though, the experience in either dorm will be the same :)

alovestori- Do you know anything about Rawlings? Trying to decide if that is a good choice for summer B and for Fall. Was it updated at the same time as broward? Any info is appreciated!

I’ve only been inside Rawlings maybe five or six times, and last time I was there it was not renovated, but it was always a lot nicer than the main Broward (but still part of the “Broward Area”)! It’s an AWESOME location, too; right next to Broward dining and close to the central hub on campus, the hospital (where a lot of pre-health students have classes), and many classroom buildings. It’s also right next to sorority row, which is great if your D plans on rushing. I know a few girls who loved Rawlings, never heard anything bad about it. Dorms at UF are not luxurious at all, but that’s one of the more social and typically freshman-friendly dorm.

2013cheer- so do i not put my preferences in on the housing contract at all then? if i do does that like cancel out my priority number or something? or do i do both? i sent my app/paid the $25 back in september

I did not ask if it mattered one way or the other

I asked if I needed to put choices down if I planned on picking my own room…she said I did not need to put choices(My personal opinion is it would not matter because you are allowed to keep switching your choices til the end)

She confirmed that I would get an email with a date and time to pick my room based on my 25.00 deposit date.( and that is what I really wanted to Know)

Also, It appears that people who are in summerB/Fall get to pick first in March if they want to stay in the same room. So that is the thing to keep in mind if you have a higher/lower priority #

From email:
“Summer B students who completed both a Summer B and Fall/Spring Contract by the due date above will have the opportunity in March to select a Summer B room. If this Summer B room is also open for Fall/Spring the Assignments team will roll your assignment forward for Fall/Spring. This will only be offered in the month of March. This will save you time and money. If your rooms are not the same for Summer B and Fall then you will have to move out during the break period. UF Housing does not have storage between Summer B and Fall. *If you transfer rooms in Summer B (one you are on campus) your room will not be transferred for Fall/Spring.”

Halls you can choose from:
Murphee
Beaty
Yullee
Reid
Mallory
Rawlings
Spring
Lakeside
(pretty sure this is correct list…it is on housing contract)

So if you want a different hall for Fall, you will have to move
