isthisit - Funny coincidence! Hopefully, indeed, as it seems that the 'untold story' is how transfer applications have spiked just as much as freshmen applications. The statistics are staggering, but I try to stay a bit hopeful...

I applied to both Georgetown and Brown as well...

Has anyone received any notification or spoken with the admissions office recently? The wait is driving me crazy.

The website says notifications will be made in mid-May, which I'm assuming to be May 15th.

this is too much... im applying to transfer to Brown FROM Georgetown

but i did apply to both out of high school...

I too am interested in Political Theory, particularly the ethics of property and the intersection of politics philosophy and economics.. I am SFS here and as such am majoring in International Political Economy with a Political and Social Thought certificate from the College so.. similarities abound...

I'm applying to transfer from NYU. I e-mailed admissions last week and they said they were just beginning to review applications. Seriously though, I need to make a housing commitment and if I don't here from brown by my birthday (may 23rd), I'm not going.

Although I did not apply to brown myself, my good friend just told me today that he was accepted! Initially, in an email, Brown said that it was unlikely he was to be accepted, but they called yesterday and told him the good news.

p.s. I was accepted to Gtown on Wednesday!

transfer?...

Yes, sorry, I meant that I got in as a transfer student (junior) and he got in as a transfer to Brown (junior status)

They called him? Was he in need of his decision immediately to commit to another school or something?

I asked him about it and this is what he said:

Along with Brown, He applied to the university of maryland and an accompanying application for full-scholarship (Transfer academic excellence scholarship). He got into UMD and also got the transfer scholarship, however the absolute deadline to confirm going to maryland with the full scholarship was this friday (may 9th). So apparently, he faxed a copy of the transfer scholarship letter to Brown in mid-april. He called them today (may 8th) and they said yes.

I think the decision is out? I got to see somebody got the decicion. Transferring from Tsinghua university, PRC.

@tenniscostaleez: thanks for the explanation.

My decision still says "Admission decisions are currently not available."... so I don't think all apps are processed yet.

yeah u can let schools know if u have extenuating circumstances

means we are close though

but one less spot

congrats to ur friend

The link on the Admissions page to check the status of your application has disappeared....

perhaps this means it will actually be really soon =-O

ahh

link is gone!

think w'ell find out tom?

By "the link is gone" do you all mean that it has gone back to saying "…currently not available" or do you mean something else? Mine never changed from "currently not available" - grim. Ha.

i mean there is no "check application status link" on the main page.

i dug out this old thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/306476-brown-2007-transfer-thread-15.html?highlight=brown+transfer+2007

if brown is on the same schedule as last year, then we should be notified between 5/15-5/17 via mail.. no online notification, at least not last yr.

Oh. I see what you mean.

I suspect we'll be getting everything about a week from now. Excuse me while I try to find some blood pressure medication.

where did you guys apply/ where have you heard from

i applied to columbia chicago and yale as well and have not heard from any of them

I was told by the office that decisions are going out early next week, and that they will not be online
