yeah! i dont even know if they’ll accpet it but i’m doing sat II in january…i hope its not too late

Just submitted my application a couple minutes ago! I feel great now! I was finally really happy with it and ready to send it out.

… But now I have to finish the supplements for Yale, Uni of Chicago, and Pomona by tomorrow… Obviously, I’ll be recycling some of my essays. Lol.

I think I’m a strong candidate. My EC’s have gotten a lot stronger and show passion, and my essays were very good (I wrote about an academic experience for the supplement and everyone I gave it to to read really loved it!), but my test scores are all over the place (i.e. I got a 690 on the SAT I math, but a 36 on the ACT math, a 750 on the SAT writing, but a 27 on my English + essay ACT score) so I don’t know what to think of it, and I don’t know what they’ll think of it…

Hey, did anyone else see that Brown extended their RD deadline to Jan. 4th? :o

My list is like (in order of preference)
- Columbia
- Brown
- Harvard
- Yale
- Vassar
- Oberlin
- Swarthmore
- Northeastern (their aid is atrocious though)

Columbia I applied ED but had to pull last minute, which was a huge bummer. I’ve always been a pretty big Brown fan (As evidenced by my post history and the fact that I created the Class of '14 Facebook page, haha), and I’d love to go there should Columbia decide to crush me and whatnot. Providence isn’t the greatest of cities, but the fact that it is only an hour from Boston and along the NE Corridor is great. Really, I just need to be in a city of any size, otherwise I’d go crazy haha. Plus I’ll be majoring in Urban Studies.

I don’t know, the thing that’s interesting about Brown is that it’s really holistic and essay-centric. Yes the stats need to be there, but they really look for people that can really take advantage of the resources available I think, someone that will truly take advantage of the open curriculum and not just to avoid certain subjects.

Yeah, I’ve sort of lost all of my Brown pizazz :(.

This thread seems less depressing than the H-Y threads though, by far. You guys actually laugh!

^HEY! we laugh on the yale thread ;)

why did you pull out of columbia ED?

January 4th. Thats quite awesome of them. Those of you who haven’t finished, do it!

Just sent in my stuff. It needs to be April 1st right now lol.

Few issues with the non-custodial and mailing in the proper forms for fin-aid actually. Then he thought I wouldn’t get aid if they weren’t mailed in in time. Bah, it’s whatever. RD round, they’ll be mailed a month in advance!

Either way, it’ll be cool to make something of all the Brown-hype from yesteryear too. See what comes of i!

On the Brown Admissions site it says extended to the 4th. However, on the Common App the deadline is still 1/1. Does that matter? I sure as heck hope not… I’m putting finishing touches to my app, but having it due on Monday would make me feel a lot better!

Haha, I went into the college application process with the intent of not having a top school so that I’m not disappointed when results come in. Unfortunately, Brown has made its way to the top of my list.

Hey!
I’m excited for Brown. It’s my first choice…I’m not sure about getting in though. I’ve got everything but the test scores, sadly.
- Brown
- Kenyon
- Bowdoin
- William & Mary
- Chapel Hill (most people from my school go here, and it’s way too big for me…)

Oh, I’m glad it’s been moved to 1/4. That means I don’t have to finish my app tomorrow when I’m sick and celebratory :)

Brown was my top choice for some time, but it’s now moved to 4th or so, behind Vassar, Macalester, and Smith. All similar to Brown in many ways except their admit rates, which is convenient :)

Ugh. After I turn it in, I realise they extended it. I could have spent more time on it and started concentrating on Yale earlier. Now I have to cram Yale and get it done in ~5 hours >.<

I was going to do Yale first before Brown (earlier deadline) but I was too excited about Brown’s essays. Good luck on Yale!

Wow Brown’s nice with the extension!

Just to go with the flow I guess I’ll post my schools up with no necessary order or preference.

Brown University (obviously)
Duke University
Emory University
Johns Hopkins University
Northwestern University
Rice University
University of Rochester
Vanderbilt University
Washington University in St. Louis

Wow, I didn’t Know it was extended! Anyways, I wrote my intellectual essay on insanity, applying art major, rank 1 in school, but crappy acts (29) and crappy sat II’s (650 lit 630 history). But My essays are really good because I gave myself about 3 months to write them, but I only let a few people read them to keep my voice there. I only really applied because of a application waiver I got…haha.

So question: Do the application readers also read PLME statements as part of their admittance decision?

GOOD LUCK GUYS! I hope to see ALL of you on campus next fall :).

Just submitted my app! WOOT

I have some strange feeling that I’ll probably end up at Brown next year, out of the 12 schools I applied to. Lol.

It’s funny, because it’s pretty high on my list in terms of low acceptance rate and I would be flattered to even get in.

Haha, we’ll see…

@daughterofpearl: i think they do read them together. i have a friend who was admitted to PLME in ED this year, and his letter said something like “the admissions office is pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to brown. we are equally pleased to tell you that you have accepted to PLME.” hope that helps.
