BROWN 2014 - RD Applicants!

^lol, hello fellow Yale EA’ers.

Just curious, what do you guys think about brown aside from it’s open curriculum and laid back atmosphere?

Also applying to Brown RD! Lots of familiar Yale EAer faces I see :]

I finished my application for brown, i had to go with common app. So glad i’m done, applying to uni is not fun, especially when you have super slow internet and your country is in the middle of a forex crisis! but i did it, muahhahah. Good luck guys :)

Yeah good luck everyone !
Hope to see you all next fall :)

Hey guys, thought I’d introduce myself over here. I was a Brown EDer but got deferred. So I’m in the same boat as you RDers now. Good luck with finishing your applications, if you haven’t done so already!

^hahahah I havent’ even started my brown app :/

i think it lacks academic rigor, compared to some of the other ivies. it was kind of an add on (I hope I dont offend those of your whose first choice is brown- we’re all entitled to our own opinion!)
my preference order is:
yale
harvard
princeton
columbia
upenn
duke
BROWN

ok so number 7 choice

well, I can say Brown is my # 1 IVY! and UF is my # 1 Normal UNIV! both are my dream, hope to get into one of them!

good luck everybodiess

oh yayay i got post #100!!

how are Brown’s physics and engineering departments?

HAHAHAHA pigs thats not true. im sure if you got into yale RD you’d go. anyway, is that your entire list? they all seem pretty high-level

Brown University

Amherst College

George Washington University

American University

Stanford University

Emerson College

Those are the schools I’m applying to (Brown was my ED, but I got deferred!)

nope nope i only put the “worthy” schools on that list

oh wait, then why the heck is yale still on there??

^I feel the spite. and I share it  I really resent yale right now, but I’d still go if I was accepted

Hi Dramacratic! I didn’t realize that you also got deferred. We can wallow in self-pity together
I just got my official deferral letter today. Blahhh…

To whoever said they hadn’t started Brown apps yet, don’t even worry. I wrote the entire “intellectual book” essay the day of November 1. Whoops. Turned out well though, I think.

I’ve only got 3.5 essays left total. Woooooo!

my list:

Brown
Harvard
Amherst
Williams
Dartmouth
Pomona
Tufts
Wesleyan
and some safety schools. That’s right. I’d choose Brown over Harvard. any day of the week.

^omg why?? (not trying to be obnoxious, just curiuos!)

^I would too, 100%.
I know that you can find friends anywhere you go, but honestly Harvard’s atmosphere is definitely not the place for me.
I took a tour of both schools and they could not be more different, at least in my eyes. Harvard seemed to be extremely cutthroat and kids were going there simply because it’s “Harvard.” In this case, the pretentiousness stereotype is dead on. And I wouldn’t want to be in that environment. That’s not what I want out of a college experience.

Brown, on the other hand, I could picture myself happily. Everybody I met was so laid-back and you could tell that they were genuinely happy people who wanted their friends to succeed. Those are the kind of people I want to surround myself with. There are more reasons beyond the atmosphere, but I think that that truly is the underlying factor for me at least.

Obviously Harvard is an amazing school, but it’s not right for everybody and I think it’s a bit silly to assume that everybody would want to go there simply based on its name and reputation.
