If anyone on here finds Brown enticing simply because Emma Watson is a Brown student… that’s sad…

It’s cool that she’s around campus, but if she transfers it’s not the end of the world - Brown is amazing whether Emma’s there or not!

Transferring!!! But… bu… Impetuous was so excited…

This will destroy his entire college experience :'(.

LOL @overachiever92
ackk I’m so nervous for March! My confidence is already down from the ED round and I applied to mainly reaches because I got into a safety EA. Even though I’d be very happy to go to my safety w/a 25k/year scholarship, I still wouldn’t like getting a string of rejections March 26 through April 1(ish).

I got so excited when financial aid for the year 2011-2012 came up on the portal, but then I realized it’s probably only because it’s 2011 now lol.

any idea when the decisions are gonna be out?>…
i hate waiting!..:(

@overachiever92

I love Brown. I would surely attend it if I get in. (unless I get into Yale, my top choice)

I probably won’t but meh…

Emma Watson’s just an icing on the cake I guess A big one though.

ecisions will be out March 30th for all ivy league schools.

I actually at first disliked Brown because Emma Watson was there.

^And here I was thinking I was the only one.

Yeah, I have nothing against Emma Watson, but I’d prefer it if she weren’t at Brown because I’m sure her being there has caused a lot more applicants, which makes it even less likely that I’ll get in. Lol

^ Hah, what are you saying… I’m pretty sure Emma Watson has little to nothing to do with the surge in applications. I don’t know people that would apply to a school just because a celebrity (that they may or may not care about) is there.

Really? I’ve talked to a few people, especially those interested in theater, who have said that before they knew that Emma Watson went there they weren’t sure if they were going to apply to Brown or not. When they heard, however, they decided it was one of their top choices. I mean, I’ve only met about 4 people who have said this, but I’m sure that if it happened with them it’s happened with others, too.

I just found out I have a connection! Now to figure out how I can use it…

its on ivygateblog.com too!! <3 that site

My D has applied for FA - any insights as to the College Board IDOC & Brown requesting information or not? If they are requesting information does that mean that they are interested? In our case they did not.

That’s a stupid reason not to like a school. It’s not like you’re even going to see her more than 4 or 5 times if you go here (unless you have class with her).

DPMom,

From what I’ve heard in other threads, the IDOC requests seem to be mostly random. The admissions and FA offices are separate, so a request (or lack thereof) for information doesn’t say anything about admission.

Decisions coming out soon for RD. I’m… horrified. This whole ivy league thing seems rather futile, doesn’t it?
30,000 high achieving applicants; are we special enough?
I suppose I’m just incredibly pessimistic. Alumni interview went superbly, however.
Best of luck to everyone, and to those who get in: make the most of your awesomeness.

My son does not hold out much hope. He is a ED deferred from Brown and from what we’ve read…a very small % get in when deferred from ED. We thought he’d have a decent shot originally, but when I read other people’s stats, it is a reach for him. He has a 31 ACT with a 36 in math (fell down on english a bit), has a 98 uw GPA and has some really unique EC’s. Plus his uncle is a alumni and wrote him a really great recommendation. I think his 31 ACT is the problem. He takes all college classes in his HS senior year and has been getting straight A’s and he took a Syracuse U biology course in his junior year and got a 4.0. Good luck to all.

I got deferred from ED as well.
apparently most of the people are deferred (as what I read in the decision letter…)
Not much hope anymore but let’s see.
My stats are really horrible too (1900 SAT omg)
I hope miracle will happen too :(

Good luck all regular decision kids! We’re waiting for you at the facebook group ;D
