Does anyone know Brown's acceptance rate for transfers? I hear that it is relatively high 20-30% but I have not found any statistics to confirm that.

from USNews

Brown
Transfer applications received for Fall 2004: 686
Transfer applicants offered admission for Fall 2004: 189
Transfer applicants enrolled for Fall 2004: 108

thats fall 2004, 2005,they didn't list the #s......arggg

if its again like 27.5 percent, omg, i am gonna be in heaven

the transfer applicant pool is highly self-selective (much unlike the one applying from high school) because the rigamarol of transferring colleges is a huge pain, and to be competitive you have to have done very well in college courses

haha okay dcircle, using all these big words i see.
'rigamarol' is spelled rigamarole. you forgot the e, hehe

That is incorrect.

Sure, but that does not prevent a delusional student from applying.

Much more is required to be competitive.

Transfer admissions at most schools is usually much less competitive than that of freshman admissions.

i know someone that transferred into brown for fall of 2005, and if i recall correctly, there were 90-some other transfers.

correction: ~150 for fall, and ~50 more for spring

yeah---brown has a very NICE transfer population, which would be great, b/c it would be easy to make friends

it is one of my top choices, ideally, i would like Columbia or Penn to come through, but i would be THRILLED WITH BROWN

i should've applied to brown... sigh..

so who watched the OC tonight? hahaha

Did you guys apply for financial aid? The acceptance rate is even greater for those who don't apply for it.

I thought they changed that this year...?

Nope.......

they are trying to be less and less need-aware, but it still matters for admissions this year...

also does being able to "pay it all" REALLY help you in transfer admissions?? I mean come on... this is Brown we're talking about...

I have heard reports in the affirmative, but I would like to think that it does not.

ru kidding, brown isn't need-blind, u need FA, it hurts u, this is explicit, brown says ur ability to pay is a consideration even this year, there is nothing that says anything to the contrary

oh. well Brown is pretty popular for transfer applicants... apparently by how many people have already looked at this forum. also i have a feeling there will be a big jump in transfer applicants this year...

so is anyone planning on notifying brown for an early admissions decision because an offer of admission from another institution?

i want to ... just get it over with :(

can we do that....well, if i get U of Chicago in the next week or so (i am assumin i am in--i got in as a freshman), and i am at a peer school (Cornell), i then can give a call to brown and ask them for a decision

yeah you can do that. i believe you have to send them a letter with proof of admissions and they will eventually call you with the decision.

its frightening!!! ahhhh. hopefully i will get into a school too, so i can just find out my admissions decision. i dont want to wait until the semester is over to find out.... i'll be like daydreaming brown during my final exams hahahaha.

to be honest, i think i would be sad for a day if i got rejected, but the next day i would be fine i'm already in at a another school.

No, you cannot. Forced decisions are only allowed if you must make a commitment before Brown officially decides on your application. I believe the deadline for committing to UChicago is June 1st. Brown's decisions are mailed on the 15th of May.
