For the Brown activity list thing, how many pages was yours? Mine is one page because I only focused on the most important ones. is it better to list more and have more pages or just stick with one page because anything over a page would be too annoying for admissions people?

uhm mine was two pages + one paragraph (total three)
I even put down awards from middleschool…hope it doesn’t annoy them.

You shouldn’t put down awards in middle school.

One page is fine – they would rather read about the handful of activities that you love to do, then read a laundry list of ECs and awards.

oh no…well too late now…already gone.

putting down things that occured in middle school is a REALLY bad idea

it just looks like filler for them

mine was 6 pages. god, how annoying is that.

About a page and a third, single spaced, with breaks between paragraphs. Just did a short paragraph on each activity/activity grouping, with details about my involvement and its significance to me. I also included my acting resume as a supplement to my paragraph about drama, since I plan to major in theatre.

There are a lot of threads going about this - people got in with a “stick resume here” type response as well as with novella-type answers. I think it’s just best to say fully what you want to say and what expresses your interests. I don’t think they’ll be too worried about number of pages and formats.

Did people separate activities and awards? My plan was to list my activities in order of importance and write a few sentences about each. Then I was going to list some of my awards and explain them. I already have sent them a resume so if they want a list they can look there.

Four…is that way too long? I’m worried now.

akiiriah!!! hi :-)

Four? hehe my list is only 2 pages long. oh well!

P.s. I just realized that I am up at 2:44 AM, posting on a college discussion website. This is terribly sad.

fringey, I’m like that, addicted to cc and other websites these days.

Hi ![]()
Uhh, yeah. Mine’s turning out significantly lower than most of yours here..

Mine was 3.5 pages. Don’t worry too much about length; focus on accurately portraying your passion (cliche? yes) for your ECs.

-M

I think mine was 3 pages. I put in something from middle school though, at the very end, but that’s because I competed at the National Spelling Bee.. I think if it’s something major like that you should put it down.

Mine is 2 pages. I made a compact version.

izzywizzy! good to see you again too :-)

I have 2 pages, taken up mostly by activities. I only have a couple academic awards and one athletic award for a sport I quit. I’m not hung up on my lack of awards because for the extracurriculars I’m truly passionate about, there are no real awards to be won. Except knowing that I’ve helped someone and become a better person ;-)…

…kill me now.

Mine is three pages, but I wrote a short paragraph for each activity..

I didn’t explain ANYTHING! Should have looked at these threads before sumitting my app. No wait, I did write a paragraph on this trip I had, but I didn’t say anything about my activities or awards. Great…think I did all the things I wasn’t supposed to do.

I didn’t write anything about the awards. Not much to say. Sadly.

Don’t worry too much, heartless… I put the wrong position on my work experience on the Common App and if the schools want, they can look it up. They’ll think I’m lying because I got the job title wrong. Good.
