I have been trying to get information on Brown’s admitted students weekend, but I can’t seem to find anything on the Brown website–or on here–with dates & times.
Does anyone know when (which weekend) Brown’s admitted students weekend will be this year? Are there any admitted students who know?
Brown won’t publish anything about ADOCH (A Day on College Hill) for the class of '21 until it releases admissions decisions. And most of what it does publish will be sent via email to admitted students. But the GoProvidence website, which promotes tourism (and helps fill hotel rooms), lists it as April 18-20. http://www.goprovidence.com/adoch/
Nope. As @bonenz notes, Students admitted ED are not invited to ADOCH. It is, as are all these events, a marketing tool. No need to sell to those who’ve already committed.
Arguably one of the best ways to sell the school is to surround potential students with a bunch of 100% committed students. ED admits used to be invited to ADOCH for that reason. The class size has expanded in the last 10+ years though and thus so has the number of accepted students - simply not enough room anymore.
@iwannabe_Brown. While you make a good point, I think Brown has a pretty good handle on how many students to admit to get the desired yield, plus or minus. It seems to me it’s like overbooking by airlines – the yield is fairly predictable. So I don’t think that ADOCH is really for the purpose of “selling” the school in the sense of trying to get the maximum number of admitted students to commit. I do, however, think that not inviting early admits to ADOCH somehow is a slap in the face, but understand that there are logistics and expenses that make doing so impractical. Furthermore, the essential purpose of the event – to help regular admits decide – is inapplicable to early admits.
