If you’ve read that then you should know it’s solely based on the interviewer’s preference and how the flow of the conversation will go. There’s no “question template” that they follow. He/She will want to know how inquisitive you are – how genuine. How that will be derived is anyone’s guess.

This is to help out other people, I was asked:

Why brown (obviously)
Tell me about your ECs
What do you consider your greatest strength
Tell me about yourself
What are your academic interests

Your questions will probably vary but hopefully this will help :)

I had my interview yesterday. It helped to be really honest, even if its not exactly the answer the interview might have wanted to hear. Something that bothered me, though was that he asked me what other schools I was applying to…in a lot of detail…
This happen to anyone else?

Depends on where your interview is. If it’s a coffeeshop or somewhere casual like that, nice pants and a collared shirt (for guys, or the equivalent for girls) would be good. If it’s in your interviewer’s office, you may think about adding a tie.

Re:being asked what other schools you have and are planning to apply to besides school X.

Many admissions offices suggest interviewers refrain from asking. However, many interviewers still do, mostly out of curiosity. There’s very little admissions can do about it. My hunch is that it’s something that will not impact your report at all. Most interviewers understand that a qualified applicant will apply to multiple peer schools and that it’s the smart approach, since admittance rates are so low everywhere. So if you tell me you’re applying to Yale, I won’t hold that against you ^_^.

My interviewer turned out to be really chill and so nice as well!
I have a great impression about Brown as a result now.
Best of luck to everyone and if anybody has any questions about interviews, PM me. I’ll try to help you as much as I can!

I have my interview this week… I wanted to ask about what kinds of questions did you ask in the end? I saw that their answer shouldn’t be easily founded on the Brown website. Can it be something connecting to my interviewer perhaps?

@WantIn
I asked my interviewer how Brown education helped him for his career and how it affected other facets of his life like just reading a book or watching a movie.
Interview was SO fun, not at all stressful, so don’t worry about it too much and go do fantastic on it :)

Off the topic, but a brown interview related query.

So a friend of mine recently had his interviewer call him up to fix an interview and also told him that he gotten through Brown’s first round of admission’s processing - and was hence offered the interview!! I am unfamiliar with admissions but do they have rounds of selections?? As far as I know - Brown Interviews, like rest of the Ivies, are purely informational and are offered to each & every person!!

Also does the interviewer even get such information? let alone reveal it to the applicant?

So is it a case of my friend trolling me(highly unlikely from his behavior in school today!) or did he misunderstand his interviewer? Or is it true that Brown processes admissions in rounds and interviewers get to know the status of the applicants??

no, all students get interviews to the best of the school’s ability. Your friend is either trolling or misunderstood when the interviewer mentioned that he had been sent the student’s name as an interview candidate through our electronic system.

While the interview matters very, very little, we do write up a thing about you and send it to the admissions committee and it is read so calling it “purely informational” might be a bit misleading.
