Both Brown and Georgetown suggest (but don't require) to use the essay as an opportunity to explain your college experience to date and your reasons gor transferring. I have written (what I think is) a really great essay for both schools, but it doesn't include those reasons. Could I include this good, but irrelevant essay as my main essay, and in addition write a little side segment about my reasons for transferring, etc.? Or should I just delete my essay altogether and rewrite it?

Reason for transfer is far and away the most important element of anything they will be reading that you submit.

What they really want to get from transfer applicants is: Why Brown and not your current school?

Don't trash the essays you've written, but maybe use THOSE as the supplemental ones.

im not sure though, it seems like it would be really difficult to do anything creative with that topic

From what I've heard the reason for transferring to the school you're applying to is one of the biggest factors - they want to know WHY you think it would be a good fit. I'm applying to Georgetown as a transfer to but I'm from a community college. I'm going to try to demonstrate why I want Georgetown more than all the other places out there.

it can be done. i got into Georgetown by answering both questions (describing myself and why i wanted to transfer) in one page; they were half a page each, single-spaced.
