Brown AP Credits

Hey- I’m going to Brown and want to know what the AP credit policies are. I have 5s in US, EURo hisotry, Latin Lit., Calc AB… and im taking English Language, Bio, and Art HIstory.

I want to know if its even worth studying for my APs this year if I won’t get any credit for them.

Any help is appreciated!

They don't consider English or Art, I think. Definitely not english.

They give placement in bio for a 4 or 5.

what does placement mean? Does that mean i can take a harder bio course, or i get credit for thee course?

I'm not certain about credit (maybe a current student will help out here) but placement means that you go to a slightly higher intro-level bio class.

I'm so happy about Brown not taking these tests, because now I get to cancel my English Lit AP test! Yay for no studying!

Check out this link to the Dean of the College's Office. It ought to answer all your AP credit questions:

From my earlier post on the subject:

Brown has two systems, Tuition credits and Course credits. In order to graduate, you need to have completed 32 tuition credits (literally, pay for 8 semesters), and 30 course credits (take an dpass 30 courses).

AP credit gets you Tuition credit, but NOT course credit. It is possible to skip some time by taking 5 courses, but a year skipped would require 5 each semester for 3 years, which may be hard.

IB credit, on the other hand, is held in very high regard by Brown (I personally enjoy this, and I think it is something more schools should embrace, because the programs are very different). IB credit earns you both types of credit, tuition and course.
