So I have been typing all my essays for my app on the computer. I was wondering if I should cut and paste my essays after printing them or should I hand-write it onto the Brown application?

I think attaching a typed document would be much better than hand writing it onto the paper application. I can't imagine that an admission officer would want to read a handwritten document if you have other options. I suspect that they would prefer you apply online if that's an option.

you think it'd be okay to attatch a typed essay?

and for part 3 the pesonal statement part where you list all your activities, do they want it bullet pointed or another essay?

Good question kash$...I hope its not another essay!

dont handwrite the essay back in because all they do is rescan it into a database anyway, which is kind of why they now prefer the paper application.

i personally just made a list seperated by year, then described they activities that i thought the committee may not toally appreciate without a little help.

should I attatch a type seperate sheet to the activities list too?

My S made his essay fit in the space provided-cut and paste. For the activity thing, he had a 3 page resume/chart (activity, year in high done/hours/duties - 3 or 4 columns) which he just put in the application packet and wrote see attached in the space near the activity section.

just type everything up and attach it then write "see attached".

i know there has been a big discussion about essay lengths, but i personally wouldnt worry about making it fit in the space. for the 500 word essay try not to go over 800. stick by the 1.5 multiplier to be safe.

lol 1.5 times rule? I heard about the 110-120% rule... you really think 750 words is not too much?

Another question, PLME statement are the 2 questions SEPARATE essays or just one essay? you think it's okay if it's only one essay?

anyone ?

I just called them this morning, admissions office told me it has to be two separate essays. Personally I'd prefer to do one myself...answering any one of those questions would encompass both of them...but meh...that's how the office wants it.

dang... ya it would have been so much better one essay, but oh well

but thanks who8mahrice for posting what you found out, i am sure it helps a ton of us on CC here

when an admissions representative gave a speech at my tour, the inevitable length of essay question came up and they said something to the effect of "if the extra words are necessary and effective than it's ok."

my essay was 530 words if that matters at all, and somehow the essay kind of about "why brown?" was 1499 characters (dont know how i did it).
