Brown application supplement

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me a little.
I’m trying to finish the brown supplement but I’m on the engineering essay portion;

Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to an interest in the field of Engineering?

What experiences beyond school work have broadened your interest in Engineering?

Brown offers programs in Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering. Because there is a common core curriculum within Engineering, students need not select a specific area until their junior year. We are curious to know, however, if any particular program within Engineering presently appeals to you. If so, please discuss that choice.

It states to answer each question separately (500 words max).
I am confused if I’m supposed to write 500 words for each question or all together 500 words.
Thanks for any form of help i get.

I know how you feel! I slaved away writing essays that were close to that 500 word max, and I just realized that it said 500 words total. I called my college counselor just now, but he’s out of the office. :frowning: It seems to me that it means 500 words to answer all 3 questions. I believe it is to challenge you to present why you should be at Brown in the most elegant, succinct way possible. Good luck, and if you hear anything, let me know!

Check the amount of characters listed under the space for the response. that will tell you. usually around 3000 characters is 500 words
