Brown as ED or RD?

Brown has always been the school that I liked most, so I was planning to apply to Brown for ED.

However, another student from my school is also applying to Brown for ED.
She has better scores/ stats than me and the counselor loves her.
I do have good scores and unique extra-curricular activities, but I can’t help thinking that she has a better chance.
And she and I are both international applicants… so is it likely that the Brown Adcoms will compare us?
(Also, she is applying for the PLME and I am not.)

Do you think it is better for me to apply as ED or RD?
Although ED and RD is both hard, I thought that ED will grant me a better chance; in RD, a lot of students -one who aspire to go to Brown or one who doesn’t really care- will apply since Brown uses the Common App…

But now, the fact that the other student is also applying for ED is really discouraging me…

help me ;<

who cares if someone else is applying ED? It can't hurt....

if it is your top choice, ED

There is no doubt that you two will be compared to each other, since you are coming from the same school....but I think for you, ED would still be better than RD.

btw, are you canadian?

Strong unique EC's will go a long way. Don't base you decisions on what someone else is doing.

Yes you will be compared. One major factor is whether you, or your classmate, need financial aid. Brown is not need blind for international applicants.

If Brown is your first choice and you'd go no matter what, then you should apply ED. You don't really have an easier time getting in ED than RD, so don't think your chances are that much higher.
