Brown called my school!

So I come into the guidance office for, like, the twenty-second time this week, and my guidance counsilor pulls me over. She’s all excited, and when I ask her why she says that she received a call from Brown asking about my app! Apparently I made it past their “first round” of negotiation, and they wanted to learn more about me… so my gc told them lots and lots of nice things. What can this mean!? Good sign/bad sign?? Still very exciting…

Two weeks!!

you're so lucky!!!! sounds like good news to me. i haven't heard anything like that here...but my gc isn't the best. i kind of hope the "poor Appalachian kid" card will work in my favor.

it's definitely a good thing that they want to learn more about you since as they told your counselor, they're not rejecting you outright

Nice! And thanks, now I'm going to be hoping that something like this happens to me. But I wouldn't be suprised if I wasn't told about it, since they failed to let me know that they couldn't find the list of schools that they were supposed to send midyear reports to, so they just didn't until I went and asked about it.

That's really awesome! Did you have an interview by any chance? Was this their way of finding out more of you as a person?

No matter what - this is a great sign. :D

I kind of hope that happened, but kind of don't.. my counselor doesn't remember anyone, even if you've just spent the last week with her. ):

I am very happy for u nelle! An awesome good sign i would say!

Very good sign. Someone on the committee likes your app and wants you to attend Brown. Wish them luck in the final wrangling! You can sleep better knowing you made it past the starting gate at least...

Awww, thanks!! It made my day so much better. But I'm still trying not to get my hopes up!

And rotorbird - I did have an interview, which went really well. My guidance counselor knows me quite well, though: not many ppl. from our school apply to Ivies, so I apparently stand out in her eyes.

AH! that most likely means that your chances of acceptance are like 50% compared to my 15% chance hahahaha LUCKY.

That's excellent news, nelle. It sorta reminds me of when Brown appointed an interview for me exactly one week before early decision results came out. But I think you stand a good chance - Brown is definitely interested in you.

when they ask for more info about you, it's always a good thing

I dont know what to make out of this
I called the admissions office to check if they had recived my transcript faxed a week back......(since it did not show on my portal)

She said and i quote
" youre all set youre all set youre all set youre all set" "we have everything we need , dont worry"......."It might nto show up on your portal...so dont worry ..but youre all set"

what do you guys make out of it?

I would call it foreshadowing karthik! LOL

kARTHIKSMART, I think it means that they have everything and that you are all set. But, that's just me going out on a limb, she didn't say anything to support my idea.

Seriously though, you are reading way to far into it. You asked if they recieved your transcript, and she said that that they had it. By saying, "Don't worry," she meant that you shouldn't worry about them missing any part of your application. They have it all. She didn't mean don't worry about your acceptance because you're definitely in. You will not know whether you have been accepted for two more weeks, and there is no other meaning to what she said.

In the USC forum, so many people were asking questions about what someone said when they called the admissions office that someone made up a joke thread about what the admissions office meant when they sneezed on the phone.

Just wait.

the person was busy and just told you that you're fine, meaning they simply got your stuff. i don't think it implicates anything regarding the admission decision

plus, if it was just the secretary, they probably wouldn't know decisions anyways
