So, basically, almost everyone got deferred?

what do you all think are our chances of getting in after being deferred?

^ Probably no different than if you’d applied RD - no better and no worse.

Rejected.

As an international student, financial need might have killed off the minuscule chance I had of being deferred, much less accepted.

Even if I get accepted somewhere great, I think I’ll always have this feeling that I missed out on something special for the rest of my life.

Congrats to those accepted!

^^I didn’t apply ED to brown, but don’t feel like that. Jesus, college is what you make of it. If you’re motivated, a brown experience is no different from a Umass Lowell experience. It’s what you make of it.

This was for 2017, so I guess the same for this year? Lol, it’s harder to get rejected than it is to get deferred. ahah (deferred)

“Approximately 10 percent of applicants were rejected, and roughly 71 percent were deferred to the regular decision process, said Jim Miller ’73, dean of admission. He said these percentages were in line with past years, as a substantial majority of early applicants are deferred.”

People say “don’t look at CC after you get decision,” but honestly, this helped me so much.

Deferred.

It helps because you’re all so qualified and seem so wonderful, so I’m able to be less hard on myself. I can hardly believe it, but I feel okay! I didn’t think I could feel okay, even though it’s exactly what I expected. /We all gon be great, do great things, go great places. So let’s celebrate that, yeah?/ We are lucky enough to have even had this opportunity. Wow. My cheesiness is nauseating, especially hearing it from myself, but yes. Love y’all.

Accepted! I can’t believe it!

Well, obviously I can, but what I mean to say is I was convinced I would be deferred.

Good luck to all of you who have been deferred. You have to remember that it is ultimately a numbers game.

deferred. can’t say i didn’t see it coming, because i did, hehe, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less. sigh. but we’re all gonna be okay. no use in dwelling congrats to those who were accepted, i’m super jealous, but y’all are gonna go on and do great. brown’s lucky to have you. to da rest of us, chins up everything’s gonna be okay. <3

de(layed rejection)ferred.

I don’t understand the point of deferrals. I wish colleges would just outright accept or reject, and get rid of the gray area.

Accepted!!! This is so surreal.

Deferred…we all just have to keep on goin’! Don’t lose hope (do I sound convincing enough? 'Cause I’m not even convincing myself lol).

But seriously, if we all love Brown, we just have to keep up the hard work 'til RD decisions come. If we’re rejected, then–unfortunately–we just have to move on…but I’m not giving up yet!! :)

P.S. Congrats Mufasa14!! That’s awesome.

Rejected. With my financial status, I was expecting this as Brown is need-aware for international applicants. Oh well. Moving on to other colleges! Good luck to all deferred applicants and congratulations to all who got in! Have a good time at Brown for me :)

Accepted! I had to look at the letter four times before I processed the decision.

I got deferred from Brown :( and honestly, I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Brown is my dream school and I really wanna be a part of it’s community. Does anyone have any advice about what to do now?

Hi guys I got accepted and I’m terribly excited!!! I’m an international student and I can’t wait to be on campus this fall!

As a father, my heart aches for those who were deferred. I’ve been reading your stories with great interest - bright, interesting young adults. Best of luck to all of you.

My daughter was fortunate to get accepted to Brown. Her head is so in the clouds right now, I worry she may walk in to on-coming traffic. She left for school this morning without her books and homework.

@dancingwriter I feel you man :(

@Phantasmagoria here was fortunate to get accepted (with aid right?).

Hey guys, I’ve been accepted to Brown University. Super happy but I’ve got one question to ask–I listed German studies as one of the subjects I’m interested in, but I got a B on one of my German subjects during my finals (international curriculum–finals end as early as December). The acceptance letter says that the admission decision is only contingent on the premise that I keep up my social and academic record. Will this be a problem?
