Standard stuff, with one or two weird questions
@Malcomx99 My experience was different from the “standard” interview. College interviews are supposed to be a conversation, and it goes in the direction–generally–that you choose. Mine began with my passion for medicine, then to my culture and experiences in Turkey, to discussing the American Dream and how it applies to society today. “Why Brown?” does come up, and make sure you know your statistics; it shows great interest in the school.
Expect questions about your interests, what you want to pursue in college, and your hobbies. They want to know you BEYOND the common application; never forget that!
Good luck!
@schroscat exactly. Standard stuff with a little added spice :’)
My interview had very few questions, haha. She asked “why Brown?” but then the rest of it was just this long talk about me and who I was and what I liked, etc. It was very informal, just a chill conversation.
@Malcomx99 Mine was fairly standard. It was group interviews, so the turnover rate for each interview was quite fast; each interviewer was allocated 25 minutes to talk to each of the prospective students. As for the content, it was fairly normal stuff, like Why Brown, what activities you wanted to get involved with on campus, what you intend on studying, why, and what makes the department stand out. The only question not really about Brown was what three books you would recommend to another person.
@frenchtoastlover @wonderlanddd @McKilla99 @schroscat Thanks for the info!
@Malcomx99 lol I don’t think I helped at all but you’re welcome anyway :’)
Does anyone know if brown wants us to update them on anything? I looked on the portal (which is kindof confusing btw I can never seem to find anything there, especially my application checklist) but don’t see anything regarding updates. Should I take this as they would not want me to update?
You can update if you want by sending it in as a supplemental document I believe
I just got a likely letter in the mail today! It came as a total surprise, seeing as I am not an athlete. Good luck to the rest of you - good news might come sooner than expected!
@sorotot Congrats!
Did anyone else receive a likely letter today?
@sorotot Congrats!
Surprise, surprise…, I also received a “likely letter” today. I am in FL. I am also not an athlete. :bz
@sorotot @IfnousWHO Nice!
@IfnousWHO @sorotot Were your portals updated?
Step 1) I woke up
Step 2) I turned on my laptop and checked my email
Step 3) I got a likely letter from Brown
Except the order is 2,3,1
@jetynz Nope, no change at all to the portal.
@ McKilla99, congratulations, you got likely letter in email?
@bestone1999 it was a joke :’)
I’m actually out of the country on a school trip but my dad sent me a picture of the likely letter that came in the mail today!
